Disappointed

I barely have had Road Runner service for one day and I am already disappointed.  I think the Internet Gods have decided that I have not suffered enough with bad service and are making it difficult for me. The Time Warner Cable post on Tuesday night took me hours to complete because of "dormant issues" with Cricket, so I said no more!!

Decided to order the service online to see if I could bypass the "death certificate" issue which I did.  The Road Runner guy showed up around 11:00 a.m. and spent the majority of the time trying to no avail even with the help on his technical support department and changing out the modem he installed to make my old laptop hook up to the service.

After two hours he finally asked me if I had another computer. Told him I did but that I used my old computer for everything as it has all my bookmarks, pictures and documents.  He told me to call TWC and schedule a follow up appointment and he would come with a computer expert to trouble shoot the issue as early as Monday.

I had an appointment on Thursday that was re-scheduled for Friday so was glad he left just in the nick of time for me to get there.  Got home late and decided to call this morning to schedule a follow-up visit but was told that the technician had not made such a notation on my file...WTH?  I had his cell phone so I called him but he did not answer and he does not have voicemail set-up...definitively we are starting off on the wrong foot!

Time Warner Cables promotions do not last long so I jumped at the chance to ditch Cricket but it would only occur to me to do it before my trip to South Brewster County knowing fully well that if things are going to go wrong they usually do right before my trip.

On the other hand I am quite proud of myself, I have not started panicking yet.  Got two calls today from my friends who themselves say they are calm and collect but fear that by Monday or Tuesday that may not be the case. This is known as the "Pre chili cook-off jitters".

I sure am looking forward to my trip and leaving the default world behind even if it is only for a couple of days.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  2. I was told Road Runner was the best but I did not want to sign on with them because I hate one year commitments or any kind of commitment. Besides they were rather pricey but this promotion will actually lower our monthly bill.

As lousy as Cricket was I was able to use it in Houston now I will be without internet when I go there (sigh).

    1. "I am not famiiar with Banda Ancha Air Card from Telcel but will have to look into it and see if it would be doable for me. Thank you so much for your suggestion."

You did not mention that you checked this possibility when you were in Mexico a few days ago. As much trouble as you are having with American ISPs I would bet Telcel would not be any worse IF they could give you signal coverage.

    2. Ed after my Tuesday night post I contracted with Time Warner Cable to have Road Runner installed on Friday. Our trip to Mexico was Thursday so I no longer saw the point of looking into it.

      Thank you for your visit.

  3. We have Verizon, both my wife's and my cell phones and the portable or mobile hot spot for our laptops and tablets. So far it has worked well.

    1. Unfortunately Verizon does not work in Del Rio. Case in point Billy Bob who is at the San Pedro Campground without internet service right now.
