An all around Rant day

Remember my problems with Allstate...the "you are in good hands with Allstate" people?  Well they are really beginning to piss me off!  It turns out that even though I had requested three times to have my address changed to Del Rio, then having paid the premium in full to avoid penalties...I now have to pay a $25.00 reinstatement fee, grrrrrrrrrrr!

Funny thing is that back in March the last time I went home and removed my mail box...I also filled out a change of address with the US Postal Service. Why is it that they never forward this very important piece of mail to me?

This bill was sent to me by my Houston agent because the policy still has the Houston address!  What a bunch of incompetent imbeciles.  If that was not bad enough I tried to pay it online only for their web page to prompt me that my policy number is not valid...WTH?  I am definitively dumping these idiots even if I have to pay more to go with another agency next year.

Got a call this morning from Val Verde Regional Medical Center with an appointment with the neurosurgeon that will be handling my mother's case.  He travels to Del Rio once a month to the see local patients at his office in the hospital.

Two hours later I got a call from his San Angelo office advising me that the doctor had reviewed her MRI. Was told she had a compressure fracture of the lumbar spine and will need surgery.  Asked her a lot of questions but was advised a nurse would have to get back with me as that is all she could tell me.  Had to cancel the errands I had to run today waiting on the nurse to return my call.

Needless to say it hit me out of left field as I was not expecting this. Surgery in my opinion as well as hers....is a last option.  I had all kinds of scenarios going through my mind.  Luckily the nurse answered all my questions and most importantly reassured me that she would NOT be cut open and then fused together.

I have never been to San Angelo, have no idea how to get around the city, nor where his office or the hospital are located.

The idiot Time Warner Cable guy that installed the Internet messed up the only computer that I could print from so I guess I will be spending time at our local library to get ready for this trip.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. My Mother was 75 when she had a compression fracture. No surgery but rest, rest, and more rest......and pain medication.

Sadly, she was hardly able to walk again even months later.

    1. That is the scenario I am trying to prevent in particular the pain medication.

Sadly, I have a Houston neighbor lady who is so strung out on pain pills...she sleeps for days and is only 65 years old.

At this time in my mother's life, I am going for quality of life versus quantity.

      Thank you for commenting Andrea.

  2. My sister is younger (only 60) and had a compression fracture. They did have to do surgery, but all they did was put some stuff INTO the "crack" that filled it up and hardened to make that particular bone solid again. They did not fuse anything, just filled in the crack left by the fracture and she is perfectly ok now. Good luck to you and your mother. Smiles

    1. The method you describe is what they are contemplating performing on my mother as she also suffers from Osteoporosis.

This sure beats having traditional back surgery.

Glad to hear your sister is well now...hopefully my mother will be too.

Thank you for your good wishes and for commenting.

  3. San Angelo is a nice little town. It was easy for me to navigate since the traffic was mild. Gumo lives there and has a nice coverage of the riverwalk area in his blog.

    2. Yes Dizzy, I have read about your son as well as Trouble's son's recent surgery on your respective blogs.

I had both surgeries in mind when they told me my mother would have to undergo one as well...that is why it really through me for a loop.

Fortunately in my mother's case it will not be as drastic. Read my reply to ChasinRainbows2.

  5. MsB, maybe reinstall your printer, that way your computer should recognize it again.
San Angelo is spread out all over the place, you have to drive and drive to get anywhere. And i'm sure it's grown since I've been there, been about 15 years. Can't imagine why anybody would want to live there, lol.

    1. My old computer can not even connect to the Internet after that Time Warner Cable idiot got through with it.

I have tried installing and re-installing the printer on the newer PC as well as my Netbook to no avail :(

I am used to Houston being spread out so maybe I can nagivate San Angelo?
