You're in good hands with Allstate? Think again!

Back in June of last year I was screaming and hollering and mad as all get out because Allstate had once again messed up and did not do a change of address on my policy.  I happened to be home at the time so I was able to pay it.  That dumb girl promised to change it (it was my third request) and guess what...she didn't!

Something had been nagging at me and then I remembered that when all that happened Ben in Texas had died.  Well he died in June here it is July and no bill for my homeowners policy.  Called that stupid girl and reminded her of our last conversation in March of this year when I went to take her a copy of my Alarm Permit so I could get a discount on my policy and once again told her I wanted the bill sent to Del Rio.

Allstate...I don't think I am in good hands...grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!  To make matters worst they went up $300.00 and I have never even had a claim!  I am definitively changing companies next year.  If something had happened to my house I would have been without coverage.  It is my fault too for letting it slip my mind...darn CRS :-(

Thankfully I did not have to drive to downtown Houston like I did a year ago but I did have to make a mad dash to the bank in the heat and in a none air conditioned car.  You can bet this will not happen to me again!

Even the ducks at the Duck Pond were too hot in the water and were seeking some shade in-land.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. Insureance, a neccessary evil, unless you have a money tree and are able to pay cash to replace things.

  2. My computer, with win 7, has lots of screen gadgets, and one of them is the yellow sticky notes. That's where I put all my important dates, etc. Now I don't know what I ever did without them.

    1. Doesn't your screen get covered with notes? I have a lot to remember...

    2. Trouble, I have the yellow sticky notes on mine but like Rob said it covers my whole screen when I turn them on.

You can bet your bottom dollar I wont forget next year.

  3. If I paid for insurance on everything I need to then I wouldn't have $$$ to live on. The worst part about insurance is car insurance where you have to pay for more than one car even if you can't be driving both of them at the same time. Grrr!!!

    1. I made the mistake of not renewing my homeowners policy to save some bucks for a few years but I paid dearly for it when hurricane Ike hit and I had to pay for repairs out of my own pocket.

My car insurance is the same have been paying for Terlita (my camping van) and it has been parked for two years. Every time I think I can get it repaired something else with more importance and usually unexpected comes up.

Would love to have health insurance but it is astronomically high and would leave me with nothing to live on :-(

  4. I use my trusty old cell phone calendar. It lets me add an "event" with reminder up to 2 days before, and with it's own special sound if I want. It has to be something that "pokes" me somehow, or I will forget. It's so easy to ignore all the little notes I write, or even the envelope with the bill sitting in the stack of "do something with this stuff". lol

    1. The only problem is that I do not own a cell phone.

  5. I use Zoho.com, which is a free on-line office suite. I have the calendar there send me reminders to my primary email (not on zoho).

    1. May have to look into that.

I remember last year I was trying to upload an office suite you recommended but it would not let me or it took too long can't remember...I had a slow broadband connection at the time.

So I went to McDonalds and asked you if I could do it from there but you were not sure I should.

  6. Farmers went up on our homeowners too, had to opt for a larger deductible to keep it close to the same cost, grrrrrrr.

    1. I guess the rates went up in most Texas cities. Wish I had had the opportunity to have gotten quotes from other companies.

Houston and other Gulf Coast cities are traditional higher due to the hurricane threat.
