Re-scheduled appointment

Last night the phone rang at 10:41 p.m. (yes, we still have a landline telephone) thought it was rather late for someone to be calling but picked it up nonetheless.  It was the local hospital letting us know that the machine had broken so our appointment for this morning had to be cancelled.

This morning the telephone rang at 7:56 a.m. it was the hospital again letting us know that a technician was on her way from San Antonio to fix the machine and if I could bring my mother in this afternoon.  I told her definitively not!  Her tests require fasting and I was not going to let my mother go without eating until then and what was to guarantee me the machine would actually be fixed?

I believe she must have still been asleep and I snapped her out of it...she agreed to have someone call me back AFTER the machine was actually fixed so we could re-schedule her tests.  I really did not mean to yell at her but sometimes I wonder what the heck some medical personnel are thinking!

In a way I am glad the appointment was re-scheduled because my legs in particular my right leg hurt more than usual since the pain began a couple of weeks ago.  The pain begins in the upper thigh and it feels like my veins are stretching and I have a burning sensation.  Today even the back of my leg hurt and it was a struggle to walk.

One of the reasons I began this blog was to document my day to day life due to my CRS (if you do not know what that is look on the upper right side of my blog).  I remember this happening to me but only on one leg back in 2009 or was it 2010?  However, I do not recall on which leg it occurred since I did not have a blog then :-(

That was the main reason I decided to have a Del Rio doctor.  My doctor was voted the #1 in Del Rio in the local newspaper survey...so it is difficult to schedule an appointment with him.  By the time he was able to see me, the pain was gone.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. I think many of us have a touch of CRS! I hate it when medical people expect you to fast until the afternoon. Most of the time you can drink water up to a certain # of hours, but sometimes a hardrock nurse will tell you to fast from midnight. I will still sip water through the early morning in those cases.

Do you have any idea what is causing your leg pain? It doesn't sound like something to ignore. Take care of yourself.

    1. Her tests called for her to fast from midnight and her appointment was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. I forced her to eat a light snack at 8:00 p.m.

They called me this afternoon at 2:34 p.m. to let me know the machine was fixed. Had I agreed... I probably could not have been there until 3:30 p.m. so she would have fasted for 19 hours 30 minutes...definitively not acceptable!

As far as the leg pain is concerned, I have no idea what is causing it but right now Mom is the one I am worried about.

  2. It seems to me that the people in the medical profession only think about themselves and take the easiest route possible. They want to make life better for themselves and not so much for their patients. Can you tell I am a little down on doctors?

  3. Do you think it could be sciatica?

I'm having a terrible time posting on this blog with my ipad, but I was going to try to link you to a Mayo clinic page which describes the symptoms but blogger won't let me nor will it let me backspace to correct mistakes. Aargh!

    1. It could be Leilani but some of the symptoms I have are not listed and it says it only affects one side of the body. However, I definitively think it is related to my spine.

I prefer it be that rather than deep vein trombosis. I am slowing driving myself crazy with all the possibilities and not having health insurance does not make it any easier :-(
