Another Scorcher

While we did not hit the century mark, we tied a record set in 2002...99 degrees (37 Celsius).  I did not even go outside until 7:30 p.m. and that was only because I had to run an errand for my mother.

When I was heading back home, I noticed there weren't that many cars at HEB so decided to stop and pick up a few items I forgot the last time I was here.  You can tell this is Spurs country when the only grocery store in town has an almost vacant parking lot.  Lucky for us we won tonight.

I did not go water the trees till almost midnight.  Apparently a lot of people watched the game as traffic was heavy for a Monday night...especially at that hour.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

    1. It is too hot to do it during the afternoon and in the evening I have to watch my Brazilian soap operas. Only time left is after mother goes to bed.

  2. If you just water a tree at the surface, it may grow more surface roots and not send any tap roots down deep for water. All life is lazy and tries to take the easy route.

    1. My mother has me water the tree starting from the top (the upper leaves). She has so many trees by the time I make my second round it has soaked it all up.

I am used to watering mine at the surface but after hurricane Ike....I cut them all down.

  3. At 3 pm it's risen to 84 degrees here and I want to shout "STOP". 84 is close to perfect, but anything higher I don't like. Stay cool.
