Cravings / New e-mail address

It is funny how when we can not eat a certain food or food group we are constantly craving it.  I have been "good" since March to try to lower my cholesterol as well as glucose levels.

I happen to love breakfast food but since I am lazy, my breakfast consists of cereal with banana or strawberries.  I would kill for some menudo, bacon, eggs, sausage or biscuits and gravy but they are all no no's :-(

I would not mind a hamburger or a pizza washed down with a cold beer.  Heck, I would even settle for a glass of wine, or a frozen margarita to cheer the Spurs on as I watch the game...but no dice!

Out of all the above mentioned things, the one thing I have been desperately craving...has been ice cream.  So today I set out to change all that and got me some Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream with no Sugar.

It somehow hit the spot and made me go to my happy place...jajajajaja!

Wanted to let you know that hard as I tried...I could not get rid of either Gmail or Skype...so I will not be using my G-mail account anymore.  If you would like to e-mail me, you may do so at terlinguadreams@outlook.com

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. My favorite, which I have most every night, is Blue Bell Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream. Yep, I know and have been told (especially by my wife) that it isn't good for me, but good it is!!!

    1. I have often heard you mention this flavor in your blog. Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to try it without guilt :-)

    1. We have to pamper ourselves every now and then or life would be hard!

  3. I too have cut out 'certain' foods with the hope of reducing cholesterol. No ice cream, alcohol or pizza for one year and it made NO difference in cholesterol but I lost 19 pounds. I continue to avoid these three food groups and have no cravings for them. I may have an occasional pizza or alcohol drink this year but ice cream is 'forbidden', perhaps for ever - not sure.
I also eliminated eggs, except for a once a week breakfast, about 6 months ago and have eliminated 'hard cheese' , except for that once a week breakfast, for the past couple of months.

    1. Don't tell me that Ed! I am going to be pretty upset if my cholesterol does not go down and here I am depriving myself. Well, I guess if I could lose 19 pounds it would all be worth it but men tend to lose weight faster than us women.

Glad you at least reward yourself with a once a week breakfast.

  4. My cholesterol level always hovered around 260, but back in about 2008 I started taking fish oil capsules. Today the level is somewhere around 110-115. I've always eaten what I like to eat - it is now pretty much a sure thing that eggs or even bacon aren't bad for you. The fish oil works over a period of time - not like a statin drug that probably works faster but can be very harmful to your health. I usually buy the capsules at Costco - but you can find them anywhere. The kind I take (pure Alaskan salmon oil) suggests two capsules a day, one in the morning and one after dinner.

    1. My cholesterol has always been high too. I used to take fish oil but it was not Alaskan salmon oil, might need to look into that. The problem was I was never consistent at it.

Back in 2009 my doctor had me take Crestor (a statin) and I swear since then my CRS really started to go south so I stopped taking it. Now I am back to taking a cholesterol reducing Mexican brand as my current doctor told me I was a high risk case if I did not lower it with both diet, exercise and medication...sigh :-(

    2. I have been taking fish oil supplements for around two year now. I had been on statin drugs for a lot of years but my VA health provider took me off of them when I complained of muscle pains. It has not lowered my cholesterol but has kept it at the same level that the statin did which was borderline high.
Anyone had experience with niacin supplements?

  5. Hoping for your support tonite! Don't forget to watch TNT Overtime online. I have mine hooked up to big TV via $7 HDMI cable. I suggest the "action cam" - there are 4 cameras available - it's not the same as the cable TV video but you do get the TV audio or you can listen to WOAI 1200 while watching. (Plus it's FREE.)

    1. Hi Andy V...we managed a great win tonight!

I was out of town but got home just in time to watch the game but this time on cable. However I do want to try watching it online as well.

BTW where did you score a $7.00 HDMI cable? They are high here in Del Rio.

      GO SPURS GO!!!

    3. You got a great deal. I have always been afraid to order something off of Ebay, do not really know why.
