Late trip to town

Another sleepless night, could not reconcile sleep until sometime after 8:30 a.m. fortunately fell into a deep slumber until 1:30 p.m.  I have a lot of errands to run but by that time of the afternoon it is much too hot to go out even in an air conditioned vehicle. We reached 102 degrees, 39 Celsius.

I am not one that likes to drive at night but I made an exception and went to the P.O. Box and HEB at 9:00 p.m. this evening and it was still stifling hot.  Actually I had no choice as tomorrow begins the Tax Free Weekend in Texas.  No taxes on clothing, shoes, backpacks and school supplies on items up to a certain dollar amount.  You can bet your bottom dollar you wont find me anywhere near a store this weekend...parents and kids can have it to themselves.

Sorry for not having posted gasoline prices lately.  This is the going price pretty much all over town but bear in mind that if you have an HEB gift card you get to take an additional .11 cents off of the price...so regular gasoline would be $3.12 per gallon and $3.51 for diesel.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. I guess outside of both of us having a leg problem we both have a sleeping problem to. Been up since about 4:30 AM.

I paid $3.71 per gallon for regular at BBMI yesterday. A good bit better than the $4.00 it was a while back, but still too damn high! Consider yourself lucky on the gas prices and for that matter some lower priced stores.

    1. Four dollars a gallon would definitively hurt the budget. I am grateful that this summer the prices have been relatively low, even though now I have no where to go.

I used to moan and groan about how high prices were at our local HEB in comparison to Houston but when we went to San Angelo (now an oil boom town) I realized how wrong I was.

These health problems of ours are not easy to deal with :(

  2. I remember back when diesel was cheaper than gasoline.

    1. Me too, I recall one of my college professors buying a brand new Mercedes Benz and telling the class that even though it was a pricey car he was going to save since diesel was cheaper than gas (back then) and he already had a gasoline station in Mexico in mind to fill it up at and save even more (at that time diesel was also cheaper in Mexico).

      Boy how times change...

  3. You are probably like me and don't go out the door on so-called Black Friday! I notice gasoline prices in my area are down a bit, but nowhere near as low as yours.

    1. Actually Gypsy I am guilty of the Black Friday thing. Last year they began on Thursday and I made the mistake of going to Walmart to check it out. It was a mad house! Learned my lesson and I will NEVER do that again.

It seems that California and New York always have such high gas prices. We are lucky in that respect.
