Nice cool weather

Yesterday and today we have had rather chilly temperatures for this part of the country.  Yesterday it was 55 degrees in the morning and today it got down to 48.  A sharp contrast from the 90's of a few days ago.  No complains here, I am loving this weather.

For the past couple of days we have had strong winds as well, glad they are gone.  Tried to do a blog post two nights ago but once again I was jinxed by the Internet gods!  So as not to bore you I will put the message as a Cyber Journal note for future reference.

Would you like to see the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight for free and live along the Mexican border?  TV Azteca is carrying it live for free in Mexico whereas in the United States it is a pay-per-view event.

How do you do that?  Unplug your cable connection from your TV and do a channel scan to pick up the Mexican channels that are beamed to the border from Mexico City.  It is going to be carried by channel 7 but in HDTV's I believe it is channel 25.1 or something like that. It will be broadcast starting at 9:00 p.m. This has been a public service announcement :)

Not much going on except me being glued to the TV watching the playoffs.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Web acceleration Client Error (515.2)  Upstream TCP Connection Establishment Timeout.

The web Acceleration Client could not create a TCP connection with the web server or proxy server. Retrying the web page may connect the problem.

Did a Windows Network Diagnostics and it gave me the following message....The connection between access point, router or cable modem and the internet is broken.

How did I solve the issue?  Unplugged the modem and router and went to sleep!

Storms, Heat, no Electricity

Yesterday it got to 90 degrees and the humidity was stifling, for a while there I thought I was back in Houston.  We had storms last night as well as this morning.

I slept with the fan on since up until this morning we had not turned the air conditioner on for the season.  I heard a big bang and then the breeze from my fan ceased.  Yep, the transformer blew and we were left with no electricity.  It did not come back on for almost three hours.

Could not call it in or go online to report it as I would have to have power to do that, so I went back to sleep.  It got to 89 degrees so this afternoon the A/C officially came on.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Spurs Corner

I am so proud of my Spurs!  They have been playing so well :)

I am like a kid at a candy store watching all the different teams giving it all they got.  Some are disappointments but that's the playoffs.

I am in NBA Playoff Heaven :)

My mechanic finally talked me into signing up for Dish TV.  He knows the owner of the local store and has referred many of his customers. He had previously spoken to him about my mother's concern of a satellite dish on her roof. Though there was no way around that in order to be able to get a good signal, the installer secured it around the eaves. He accompanied me to get his $50 referral fee and I got a $50 credit to my account, a win win situation.

Year after year this house across the street from the Post Office
is the first to have blooming bouganvilleas.
I had to assure mother that I would be responsible for any damages incurred.  Last Sunday and this past Wednesday were the straw that broke the camels back.  There is no reason why I should have to listen to my Spurs on the radio or online.  These are the playoffs and I want to enjoy them and watch all the action as I cheer or utter a few choice words from the privacy of my bedroom without having my mother yell at me (when we had cable it was located in the living room).

Folks I am ready. Yesterday I watched three games and while I was ready this afternoon to watch Lebron and his Cavaliers, the first fluke appeared...there was a problem with the programming. Oh well, it is not like it was a Spurs game or I would have been highly pissed!

If you do not see me much during the next few weeks...you know I am probably in NBA playoff heaven. The Spurs game will be a late one tonight.  Wonder how many people will be calling in sick tomorrow?  Go Spurs Go!!!

I can not believe it got to 90 degrees today.  We have yet to turn on the air conditioner as a cold front should arrive tonight lowering the temperatures to the 70's.

Have not had a chance to do a post on my other blog, so here is a small update. Walter has been here since Tuesday. Dulcinea joined him for three days but they took her home yesterday.  These past couple of days would have been great for washing clothes but Walter has the bad habit of smelling and licking them so I am not going to take a chance on that.

Pedrito has turned out to be a very good watch dog. If he barks, I know it is for a reason unlike the neighbors dogs that bark at anything.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Looking forward to a lazy weekend

I am so looking forward to this weekend and being able to rest up a bit.  It has been a week of running around and appointments.  I think I work harder now than when I actually had a job and was forced to work 60 plus hours...or perhaps I just feel it more.

It has been raining quite a bit lately...an event that is always welcomed in the desert lands of West Texas.  I was secretly hoping that my doctor's appointment would be cancelled, as I hate driving in the rain.

The nurse practitioner as expected doubled my dosage of high blood pressure medication. Hopefully I will soon get it under control. On a positive note, I did not pay $95.00 for the office visit but $59.00 and my medication still falls in the $4.00 generic category even though the dosage is higher.

When she asked me if I had any other problems, I hesitated for a minute...then told her that my legs had been hurting due to the weather. She told me to take Tylenol.  Did not want to mention anything about my diagnosis of Fibromyositis as I could see dollar signs dancing in my head.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Spurs Corner

Sometimes, I think I am psychic...remember I mentioned that only for one night we were the second seed?  Well, I was right...only for one night, we are the sixth seed now.  However, I do remember back when I followed the Houston Rockets, they  managed to win a back to back championship against all odds and in that same seed...so why not us?

We had a severe electrical storm Wednesday night. I could not for the life of me get a decent reception either on the radio or online. I got one of my hunches and knew we would lose...so I just turned off the radio.  While it does not rank up there with that prior "unmentionable loss"...it still stung!

Welcome Smokomotive

I want to apologize to Smokomotive for taking so long to give him a proper Texas welcome.

Smokomotive also known as Chris has two blogs.  One is called My Business http://chris-mybusiness.blogspot.com/  and the other Smokomotive BBQ http://smokomotivebbq.blogspot.com/

While both are written in a foreign language...German?  You are offered the option to have it translated into English or any other language of your preference.

His first blog has some of the biggest fish I have ever seen in my life. His second blog requires no translation to convey that the pictures of the food no doubt taste as good as they look.

Thank you for signing on and welcome to Terlingua Dreams.

A little bit of everything

Why is it that when I have full access to the internet. nothing happens?  Yet when there is a lot of things going on...I can't even get online?

I am not going to rehash my computer and connectivity problems, as you are all well aware of them :(

Tuesday, we made our way back to Ciudad Acuna to pick up mom's new dentures and to run several errands as well. The exchange rates went down some, which is good news for those wishing to buy dollars with their Mexican Pesos and spending them in the United States.

The weeds have been growing by leaps and bounds. Thought about starting up the weed eater but I think it is low on string and I do not know if I even remember how to re-string it.  Lots of videos online but not enough bandwidth or bars to actually be able to watch them.

Decided to use my hulla hoe but could not find my gardening gloves. Cut up my hands as well as got a couple of calluses...but what the heck, I needed to try to get a grip on them while I still can.  My back hurts like hell and I still have a LOT more weeds to get to :-(

The peace and tranquility that I have always sought but for some reason has eluded me came to an end this past Wednesday.  They opened up the entrance to the sub-division.  I have no idea why...as the project is not completed yet.  I guess there must have been a lot of complaints about having to drive to the north part of the city and then having to back track.

I would not exactly called this a completed road project!
Having lived in Houston all my adult life, I got used to the endless traffic and long distances one has to travel.  I must admit I have finally succumb to the small town way of thinking and a 20 mile round trip is too far.  However, since I do not work, the once or twice a week trip to town was well worth it for the tranquility and lack of traffic I received in exchange.

These past couple of days have been very humid and we have been very fortunate to have received some rains in particular this afternoon and evening.  The city alarms went off, but I have no idea why and it only rang one time.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Spurs Corner

What can I say?  I am so proud of my Spurs!  As we go to sleep tonight...but only for tonight...we are the second seed in the West.

I only lost it  a couple of times this week, as I was not able to tune in to Spurs Radio WOAI and actually listen to a complete game.  Neither on the radio, my car or the internet!  Both of my laptops as well as the radio, came real close to being tossed out the window...but then I would have to replace the window :-(

Go Spurs Go!!!!

A chilly Easter weekend

If memory serves me right (it usually doesn't)...thank goodness for my blog!  In the past four years it has never been this chilly during the Easter weekend.

Do you think these might be Dallas Cowboy fans?  See the little Cowboy's pop up tent in the background?

It was so chilly (around 61 degrees) that I saw one camp sitting around a campfire (those with a metal stand and protective shield of course).

A lot of tents were not completely staked down, guess their relatives were just saving their spot and let them do the hard work tomorrow.

This year there were a lot more port-a-potties than before and closer to the individual camps than in prior years which is always a good thing.

I also noticed that many participants got new and bigger tents and pop up shade structures were prevalent.

This Easter weekend will go down as the coldest (to my knowledge) and the year the kids did not get to go swimming in San Felipe Creek :-(

Would you believe the above photos have taken almost an hour to download?  It just seems to be one of those nights.  I will probably either try to post more pictures tomorrow or display them as my header photo during the week.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
