This is exasperating

I am as sick of complaining about my worthless DISH internet service as I am sure you are about having to read about it.  Running out of daytime data only two weeks into my monthly plan is exasperating but even more so having to put up with half the speed of an already slow service.

I want to make a new post with pictures but at these speeds, it would probably take me a couple of hours.  At peak congestion times it just drops me. I can't even open up e-mails with attachments.  We have been experiencing winds in the 20 mph range and light rain something that would not typically affect other ISP but it affects worthless DISH....grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Web Acceleration Client Error (504) - Suspected Satellite Link Outage
The satellite link was not operational when the last web page request was made. Possible causes for this include recent changes in weather conditions or equipment problems in the Network Operations Center. Trying again at a later time may result in restored service due to either improvements in the weather conditions causing the service outage or rectification of a network problem in the Network Operations Center. If this problem persists, please contact your service provider for additional assistance.

This week I made sure I stocked up on everything we needed. It being Easter weekend the only two grocery stores in town HEB and Walmart will be jammed packed with screaming toddlers and their cellular phones in hand parents paying more attention to their devices than to their kids...No thank you...I plan to stay home.

For my European readers, I am sorry I have not been doing a good job of reporting the gasoline prices. I filled up at $2.19 a gallon for regular unleaded earlier this week.

I was in HEB when I saw this lady that looked familiar but I could not remember from where I knew her, thought perhaps I had gone to school with her.  Ran into her down another aisle and I asked her if she knew me.  Turns out she used to work at Stripes (a convenience store) and she would serve me the lunch plates I often buy.

I apologized because I did not recognize her out of uniform and the head cap they have to wear. To make a long story short she now makes plates out of her house on Wednesday and she fixes one of my favorites...chiles rellenos...which I have not eaten in at least a year.  Bought her two plates and even mother who never finishes a complete meal ate it all!  It was quite delicious and she now has herself a new customer.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Spurs Corner

What can I say?  As if I needed, even more, exasperation and stress in my life!

I tuned in to watch the last game of the season only to find that it was blacked out in this area when that has never been the case before. Was hot under the collar and called worthless DISH to find out why.  After 15 minutes on hold, I hung up.  It turned out to be a good thing as we lost and I got to see my soap opera at its regular time rather than having to wait till midnight for the rebroadcast.

  1. What an interesting thing to happen - your running into the woman you recognized, and now you have a source for great lunches!

Sorry to hear of your continuing problems with Dish. I have very good service (so far) with ATT internet. I think ATT owns or has something to do with Dish, but I've never even considered looking into their pricing or service in this area.

    1. At least I will eat well one day a week :)

For some reason I thought AT&T owned DirecTV but I could be wrong. I had AT&T when I lived in Houston and I loved their service, best ISP in my humble opinion.

    2. ATT bought DirecTv, they have some sort of deal going on too. Cellular wifi & tv. If ATT works at your house (have any friends who use ATT & could check it out?) that might be an option...

    3. Wish we had AT&T U-Verse in Del Rio but we don't...only AT&T cellular.

Two and a half years ago I purchased a Mifi device from AT&T but could only get one to two bars from mother's house, I therefore was able to get out of my two year contract.

  3. Right now I'm camped on the Tennessee River no too far from Stevenson Alabama at the SE GTG. I'm using a mifi device I bought off ebay & spending $15 a month for 3g service. Not fast but I can do this & it's cheap.
My device runs off the Verizon network, the last time I was in Texas not much Verizon was available, ATT was king!

Good luck with your internet search!

    1. Thank you Rob, I will need it:-(

Upon a prior comment you made on my blog I went to check out Cricket wireless (you said your ex used it to connect to the internet).

Unfortunately, in my area you can not use your cell phone even if you are in the unlimited data plan to serve as a hot spot on the Cricket network.

Sometimes it sucks to live in a small town!
