A very cold day

It is days like today that I am glad I am not working.  It has been cold!  Lucky for me we do not have any appointments until later on this week.

I really can not complain though after seeing other cities in Texas who fared worst like San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston.  The rain and sleet did not materialize. The schools were closed today but you would have never known it since everyone stayed indoors.

Monday I had to go pick up a prescription at HEB and I could barely find a parking space. I swear half the town was there making panic purchases in preparation for the cold front. Does one really need to buy 10 or more loaves of bread, 6 gallons of milk, several cartons of eggs plus an equal obscene number of cases of water just for two days?  I was so glad I did not have to stand in those awful lines!

Bundle up and stay warm.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. Same here in the grocery stores. The folks act like it is a two week session of isolation about to happen.

    1. From the TV coverage I have watched these "panic purchases" left empty grocery shelves all over Texas.

Not even back in the day when I used to spend two weeks in Terlingua during and after the Chili Cook-off, did I ever buy that many groceries.

  2. Several school districts around here delayed opening or closed in advance of Tuesday morning. Simply on a 30% chance forecast of snow/ice. DFW and areas west had zero precipitation.
But it's pretty cold here Wednesday morning at 8 degrees now.!!

    1. Bigfoot, eight degrees is down right frigid! Tonight is the last cold evening for a while or so "they" say.

  3. It sounds like there is some weather coming! It's been nice in this part of Arizona, shorts & tee shirts for the most part.
Some cool weather is coming in for the weekend with highs in the lower 60s.
There are a lot of people out here right now & this cell based internet gets really slow for most of the day so I have not been watching the general weather...

    1. After the last couple of days, the lower 60's sound wonderful!

      Enjoy your stay in Arizona.

  4. SPURS corner: Our boys almost blew a nice lead at the end tonite in Brooklyn but it came down to free throws - Nets didn't make theirs. Patty was hot. Needed that road win. Gonna miss Kawhi for a while. GSG

    1. Spurs Corner - I almost got physically sick in the last minutes of the 4th Quarter. Why do we play so bad against mediocre teams?

Lucky for us their lack of making free throws kept us in the game. Patty was great and Gasol was fantastic.

I am sorry we wont have the services of Kawhi for a while. I for one am OK with that as I rather wait for him to be 100 percent and not risk further injury. He is after all our most important player.

    2. Spurs Corner - and the short-handed SPURS hand LeBum with his 30,000 a LOSS! GSG!

    5. I guess you must of posted this after the loss to the 76ers? Yeap, that was a pretty lame game. It seemed like they had partied all night and were still hung-over.

I decided instead to turn the channel to the Rockets game and watch them lose, if we could not win why should they? At least that is the way I rationalized it :)

  5. Stay warm. I heard about the bad weather on the news and other places that had such awful ice and many accidents. If the cold isn't going to last all that long why do people buy so much it will just be wasted. I could understand the water just in case pipes break but what if they lose power and all that milk will spoil Oh well to each his own I guess.

    Stay warm

We will get this cold weather on Sat and Sunday.

    1. JO, I have no idea why people behave this way...self preservation perhaps? Either way, this is wasteful and they are just making it difficult for other people who perhaps had to work or could not get to the grocery store in time to be left with no provisions...shame on those hoarders!

  6. Are you OK? This is a week now since this post.....hope you are just watching the teevee and enjoying yourself and not troubling with the internet....

    1. Hi JudithK, thank you for your concern. It has been a combination of many factors...my computer, trips back and forth to doctors, Spurs games and fighting off a cough (hoping it does not turn in a cold).
