Me and this darn Vertigo

When I went to see the doctor (she is a nurse practitioner) last month I told her about my dizzy spells and she confirmed the vertigo diagnosis.  She told me to take two Claritin daily for two weeks. The two weeks have already passed and I still get dizzy now and then,

The shower curtain had two hooks that had come off the shower rod and that I have been ignoring.  This morning I decided to fix it and got on the ledge of the tub in lieu of bringing a ladder.  Sure enough I got a dizzy spell and fell inside the tub bringing down the shower curtain and rod.  I was fortunate to be able to get a hold of one of the grab bars to help break my fall. I am glad I did not hit my head. I laid there for about five minutes trying to get the strength to get up.

I am now bruised and my arms and legs hurt.  It is a good thing that I had no plans to go out today.  It was a gray, cloudy, cold, windy and ugly day though the sun did manage to come out this afternoon.

I hope your day went better than mine.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. Ladders & vertigo ...bad news! I'm really happy there were no major hurts..
Maybe when the warm weather gets there whatever you are allergic to will go away. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

    1. That is the funny thing Rob, I am not allergic to anything as far as I know.

  2. Try the Epley maneuver. Here is one video, watch several before actually trying it. It works for Mom and I and a couple of others I've recommended it to.

    1. I remember someone mentioning this method in the past. I think it might have been you. It looks easy enough. Thank you.

  3. I am one who stands on the side of the tub as well, and every time I realize it is not safe but I do it anyway! Hearing your story makes me realize that it is very unsafe, and I'm just glad you didn't do more damage to yourself. I hope the vertigo goes away soon - I've never had it but it must be awful.

    1. Learn from my mistake Gypsy and do not stand on your tub. I have had vertigo on and off for about two years now and it is not fun :-(

  4. Glad you didn't get hurt worse than you did, but sorry you hot hurt at all. Knowing that you get vertigo, don't take any chances when you get those dizzy spells.
