Blaring music / Good night's sleep / Rising cable bill

I can not believe that I have already gone through 3 cans of bug spray and one 4 oz jar of The Dollar Tree version of Vicks Vapor Rub.  Those pesky mosquitoes are something else.

The temperatures have been high and there is so much humidity.  I am only going outside to feed the boys twice a day.  Yesterday there was so much bad weather in the state. Fortunately, it skipped us. Hope my readers in those areas were not affected.

Saturday I was so tired when the step-son of mother's nice neighbor began with his blaring music early in the afternoon.  I laid down after dinner for a couple of minutes and did not wake up until 10:35 p.m. and the music was still going on.  Finally, his mother or his wife made him shut it down at 11:45 p.m.

I went back to sleep and believe it or not I was able to sleep until 8:30 a.m.  It has been a LONG time since I have slept for twelve and a half hours...my body needed the rest.

I was so proud of myself for troubleshooting the cable box in the kitchen or I was going to get rid of it now that my bill went up an additional $8.05 to $168.02 monthly.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

    1. I am so grateful I was able to get some much needed sleep. Just when I was convinced the step-son and his family had moved out for good..here he comes again...grrrrr!!!!

The cable bill includes cable, internet and home phone but I would agree that it is expensive.

  2. I hope you get a lot from the cable bill... we pay all total a little more than that for the internet ($60), 2 cell phones ($45 & $55) and a netflix ($13)
(it was a lot better before I added it up...:-)

    1. I have no other choice Rob...in Del Rio if you do not have cable you have a blank TV set...being a border town we have access to the two main television networks that transmit to the border from Mexico City via satellite. However, if you do not speak Spanish (fortunately I do) you have to pay for cable.

Being a long time reader you know that I am a diehard NBA fan and would DIE if I could not watch my SPURS games...so YES, it is worth it to me to pay for this service.

Spectrum makes you pay for each cable box $7.50 plus tax I originally only had two. The kitchen did not have one I just screwed the cable to the back of the TV but last year they notified me that I would have to purchase a box (which was free for one year) or I would no longer be able to watch TV in the kitchen.

  3. Yes your body needed that sleep I bet you felt good in the morning. But that loud musice wouldn't last with me as a neighbor. Where is the respect for that mother and why does she allow that. Oh I don't know.

    1. I certainly needed and welcomed the sleep.

This now 30 year old man is an enigma. He has had a drinking problem since he was in High School and would host parties when his mother and step-father went out of town.

These parties which were exclusively male would consist of a lot of people who would cross the street and urinate or vomit along mother's fence line. My mother would not let me call the police fearing that when I left (I was living in Houston then) he might take retaliatory measures against her and I agreed.

This individual has no respect for anyone not even his mother or his hard working step-father that apparently supports him as he does not have a steady job and the only one that earns a pay check is Mr. Joe...very sad situation.

We live in the county so Val Verde County Sheriff's Department does not put a stop to loud music on weekends until midnight.
