Decided to give it a try

I have been contemplating giving a morning walk at least a try as many of the blogs I follow are reaping the rewards of this activity.  George, of Our Awesome Travels...Barney of OFM Adventures...and Bigfoot of Old Fatass Fart.

There are other lady bloggers like JO of Mom's Little Runaway who exercise on their stationary bike and Gypsy of  On The Road Again who goes to the gym.

There is a church on the main road into the subdivision that has several lots, I suppose for future expansion.  One of those is used as a walking/jogging/running trail.

I was up at 5:30 a.m. waiting for it to get light outside just in case there was a rattlesnake lurking around.  If you read my blog you know by now how petrified I am of those creatures.

I made my way down the road but not before I had to take Paquito back who insisted on following me.  Soon the sun came up.

I started my walk at 7:20 a.m. but lost count on how many times I walked around the trail so just focused on the minutes.

Even here I could not get away from the pesky mesquite pods :-(

Pesky mesquite pods follow me everywhere.

It was getting a bit warm and sticky so walked back home at 8:00 a.m.  I usually do not pick up the trash people throw along our outside fence line until trash day who happens to be tomorrow but decided that since I was already out an about to get that chore out of the way.

Paquito was waiting for me by the gate and followed me around.  After I finished that I once again had to focus on picking up the pesky mesquite pods that had fallen since I last picked them up.

Finished my morning chores, took a shower and when I went to watch the news at noon fell asleep.  Woke up with a pain in my right foot. A while back I had tried to open the door with my foot as I was carrying laundry but it had closed and I kicked it too hard and hurt my toes. This walk revived the pain.

I do not know if I will be making this a daily, every other day or weekly event.  Only time will tell, I just wanted to give it a try.

We had a high of 106, a  low of 82 with a heat index of 108 degrees.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. The best thing is you got out there and did your best. If you have to wait a few days then so be it. Give you foot a chance to heal up and then give it another try. You'll know when your body is ready. Good luck. Yes I need to get out there and pick up those nasty pods again to. WE are in for some really nasty heat for the rest of this week with temps possible beyond 113

    1. I tried which is all I wanted to do. This morning I went again thinking that if my foot kept on hurting I would quit and come back another day but I was able to complete my walk.

Take care with this heat. Temperatures in the range you are expecting can be deadly.

  2. We went walking this evening, Larry the cat followed us along. We went down a ways, turned around and came back, Larry was there.

    1. Our pets want to be part of our lives so it is no wonder Larry wanted to follow you guys.

We live on a heavily transited street and then have to cross the main road to get to the area where I walk. Paquito is not street-savvy like his momma Blanca.

  3. Keep it up. Just build up your walk time duration to 20 minutes and you'll reap the benefits!!
But that humidity gets rough, even before sun-up during pre-dawn.

    1. I was going for 30 minutes but both yesterday and today I was able to walk for 40 minutes. I cut off my walking at 8:00 a.m. too hot and humid to extend past that time frame.

    1. Thank you George. Though the temperature at 7:20 a.m. was 78 degrees with a heat index of 81. Wish we had the cool morning temperatures you are enjoying in Canada.

  5. I am so happy for you! I hope you keep up the walking and notice some positive benefits from it. The heat doesn't make the best walking weather, but if you can manage to go early enough, it would be better. I would have said you might try walking after the sun goes down but with the state of the country today and the mean and nasty people everywhere, you are probably better to go in the early morning.

    1. Since I can not sleep anyway, early morning works best for me. I would have to wait until late afternoon when the heat has gone down some even though last night it was 10:00 p.m. and it was still 91 degrees.

In the afternoon there are more adults walking and kids playing soccer. I prefer to be alone. Not too worried about mean people as this is mostly a Mexican-American neighborhood. The only bad neighbor we have is the rowdy, unemployed, drunk step-son of mom's good neighbor Mr. Joe.
