Tropical Storm Imelda, Record highs for Del Rio

Hope my readers and friends in the Greater Houston area are doing well with all the rains that Tropical Storm Imelda is bringing.  Most of them live in Southern Harris County and even after all the storms and hurricanes they have endured would not consider moving to another part of the city.

My part of town has not received as much rainfall and thankfully in the thirty-plus years that I have owned my house it has never flooded and hope it remains that way.  Was going to e-mail my friends after the evening news last night but fell asleep before they even began.  It is no wonder I have been up since 3:57 a.m. this morning.

Yesterday we broke another record in Del Rio.  I wrote it down but can not find it (darn CRS) will update the blog later with that information as this blog serves as my Cyber Journal.  We are also expected to equal or top another record high today and tomorrow.  Just wish we could get a little bit of rain.

Since it is 5:43 a.m I can not wish you a Good Night and Terlingua Dreams.  If you are in Imelda's path please stay safe.

  1. Hope its cools down a bit for you and the storm does not affect you.
Figured you were up very early or all night with the early comment on my blog.

    1. The storm will not be affecting West Texas though I wish we had benefited with at least a shower. Hoping for some relief to this heat which has been unbearable this summer.

Up very early this morning but at least I got a couple of hours of shut-eye.

  2. Must be something in the air, I woke up just before 0500 this morning & tried to go back to sleep but after an hour gave that up.
Good luck with the rest of your Wednesday!

    1. Glad I was not the only one up early this morning. I did have a busy Wednesday and I am tired but at least I was able to run quite a few errands.

    1. We broke a record set in 1977 of 100 degrees. We reached 103 this afternoon :-(

Have not had the chance to keep up with the Spurs. Would that first game be a real or an exposition one (I think that is what they are called).

    2. They are called preseason and they don't count. 33 days starts the REAL season.

Had a BIG RAIN tonite - the 6:00 news said NO RAIN. Dummies. Unfortunately have a new leak. ugh

    3. I did not see how much rain you all had gotten until the news at noon. Then I saw that crane (?) that fell in the downtown area due to the winds. Glad no one got hurt.

We are still waiting for rain. We have a 10 percent chance tonight or basically ZERO probability. Sorry about the leak we have a few ourselves.

    4. Correction...not a crane...a scaffold!

  4. That Saying of the Day was written for me! After all the hot weather this summer, today we had a bit of rain and a high of 78 degrees. I look ahead at the 15 day forecast and see a few days in the 90's. It'll be tough after the past few beautiful days.

    1. When I saw The Saying of the Day, I knew it was meant for me...glad I am not the only one that can identify with it.

I would be overjoyed to have a high of 78 degrees. It will be a while until we see that here. Tomorrow is expected to be another scorcher and once again set a new record high for the area.

  5. I didn't know that storm was hitting Greater Houston area. From what I understand they have been getting rain for several days already. Try to stay cool and I hope you get some rain out of these Tropical storms.

    1. Tropical storm Imelda has been the one responsible for the heavy rains in the Greater Houston area and more rains are expected.

I had to laugh when on the Weather Channel they said there were so many tropical storms at this point they resembled roaches :D

There is another storm out there (whose name I have forgotten) that will bring a chance of rain for this area.

  6. The saying of the day is perfectly on target.

    1. You too? Glad to know I am not alone on this one.

I just wish the people that made these banners would pay more attention to their spelling and grammar. Not that I do not make mistakes but when you put it out for people to share your creation with others it would be nice if you checked it before publishing it.

    2. I know lots of old people who have the 3AM thing. Pretty soon in the night you run out of the good things to think about, and then you're up against.....whatever. You're not even OLD yet, but that means you have time to get some practice in. Ha. I myself turn on recorded "Sounds of summer rain." and hope for the best. And audiobooks are good....anything but turning on the light and getting up at that hour. Though I have friends who do. Sheesh.

    3. I think "age" is a mental thing. I have friends much older than myself who feel and act young and can actually sleep all night long.

Just got off the phone with the infamous Linda Lou and we were laughing like crazy remembering our younger days and all our adventures. She hardly slept when I knew her and back then I could sleep but if I was at her house she would not let me!

We hung up because she had to get ready to go to bed and now she sleeps until 9:00 a.m. that is TWELVE HOURS!

Audiobooks would not work in my case but I think I am going to look into "Sounds of summer rain" that seems soothing. Thanks for the tip JudithK :-)
