I have really gone and did it now :(

If you have been reading me for any length of time...you know or have become aware that I am "computer challenged"...:(

Aside from being computer challenged, I also seem to have a problem with all my ISP (Internet Service Providers) and my latest one AT&T is not the exception.  They used to be my internet providers when I lived in Houston...well actually it was Southwestern Bell or something to that effect (me and my CRS) later bought out by AT&T.

I had DSLwith them and it was a reliable and affordable service.  I currently have a very expensive plan with AT&T that borrowing a much used but relevant phrase by fellow blogger Billy Bob...it sucks!!!

Got an e-mail warning a couple days ago that I was almost at 75% of my monthly 6 GB limit and if I went over not to worry as they would bill me $15.00 for each 1 GB I go over until then...grrrrrrrrrr!!!

There is a reason why I do not like contracts, in particular two year commitments and now I am stuck for 22 more months in a bad marriage...darn it all!

Last night not wanting to use up anymore of the 6 GB I have left for this month, I decided not to go online but to try to sort out my pictures.  Have no idea what in the dickens I did but I seem to have wiped out all my pictures from 2013 to the present. Good thing I never erased my memory cards!

So if you do not see me for the next couple of days or you see a very old header picture...you know why.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. You may have noticed that in the last year, videos will play automatically. That is a bandwidth eater upper. I had to go from 5 gb per month to 10. The autoplay feature can be turned off.

    1. I found an add on for my browser that turns off all the auto play videos, I have to hit a couple of buttons to actually watch a video. Those video ads really pissed me off which is why I found it.
I turn off the HD feature when I do watch something as it's twice the bandwidth of regular video.

    2. Billy Bob - details please how do I turn off the autoplay feature?

Rob - what browser do you use and where did you find the add on?

      My browser is Google Chrome.

    3. Thanks Ed but the only add on that I had turned on was the HD feature that Rob said was a bandwidth eater upper.

  2. It seems that everybody is out to get all our money and they want to get it without giving you much for it in return. Yep, like you and BB says, "it sucks".

    1. Dizzy, I recall you saying you got online with a Verizon hotspot, do you ever run out of your data allotment? Does Verizon allow you to carry over data to the next month?

    1. TnT - The data limit I believe is for the wireless customers.

      Ralph went back home:

  4. I always had a gb limit with Verizon but now with AT&T I have unlimited service. It's worth it to not worry about watching a YouTube video now and then, but I really dislike how so many sites you click on automatically start the video. I click out of that thing real quick. I'd rather read it than watch it play for some reason. The ISP

    1. The unlimited service is well worth it to not have to worry about monthly usage. How I wish there was DSL service in Del Rio but there probably never will be as Verizon has the concession for all the home and business landlines and if they came in with DSL, I think it would be considered a monopoly.

Time Warner Cable is the only game in town but they sock it to you after the initial promotion is up. Will never go back to that outfit.

I had to give up going to the Weather Channel because it is video after video even if you did not choose that option.

  5. This is interesting because while I used my aircard from Sprint I had a 6 GB limit but never even got up to a 2GB usage. I guess I did not do much on the internet.

    1. I was under the impression from reading your blog, that you gave up your air card because most of the places you visit now had Wifi.

I assumed it was no longer cost effective to keep on paying for an air card you only used in places like Del Rio and the Big Bend area where Wifi is spotty to non-existent.
