Civic Duty / Dairy Queen

Went into town to run some errands. Since I was already there headed to the County Courthouse for early voting. There was no line when I arrived but there was a steady flow of voters and that made me happy.  Please people exercise your right to vote!

It was around 3:00 p.m. and I had not eaten so decided to treat myself to a Hunger Buster at Dairy Queen.  It has been so long since I have eaten a burger and it really hit the spot.

It was humid and warm today. The weeds are multiplying by the minute...where is my TWC (tall weathered cowboy) to help me keep them at bay?

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Spurs Corner

What a game we played tonight against the New Orleans Pelicans. Pop getting tossed out, Manu turning back the hands of time and all the Spurs playing lights out. It was a shame we ended up losing. Too bad LaMarcus hurt his ankle, we really needed him as well as Kawhi this evening :(

Laundromat / Flu Shots / Kawhi Leonard

I finally got around to going to the laundromat, the best part is that I was the first one there.  They have one washing machine with a capacity of a Maxi-load (equivalent of four loads) that they have a special price for their regular customers.  It is not advertised you just know it if you go there frequently and happen to pay attention to the price.

I have often mentioned that I do not buy the local paper so I do not know what goes on around town. I happened to be watching San Antonio's Telemundo when they were doing a story of free flu shots in Del Rio. I showed up early in the morning and took advantage of this offering. I asked the lady in charge where they would usually post something like this and she said the radio and fliers around town. No wonder I never see anything...thank you Telemundo!

It has been warm and the trees have started to bloom and that includes the weeds  I do not look forward to spring!

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Spurs Corner

I am very happy we finally broke our losing streak, the fact that it was against the Cleveland Cavaliers was the icing on the cake!

With that said what the heck is going on with Kawhi Leonard?  The sport shows claim that he fired his agent and his uncle is now his manager who seems to be giving him bad advice.  Why would anyone...sports figure, actor/actress or a person in any profession...hire a family member in particular one with no experience?

I hope he gets his act together before the Spurs organization decides to trade him.

Should I believe them?

Should I believe them? By "them" I mean the weather forecasters.  The cold front we were expecting Friday never made it, in fact it was in the 80's.  Last night they said we had a 70% chance of precipitation and did not receive a single drop. Now they say strong electrical storms in Mexico will be making their way to Del Rio in forty minutes.

Went outside to check it out but I do not see anything to indicate a storm is eminent.  Whenever we have electrical storms we lose power so will make this short in case they are correct.

At noon headed to pick up a couple of items at HEB...note to self...do not do that again!  We really need another grocery store in town. It seems that no matter what time or day I go, it is always packed.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Cold Front / Stray Cat

Yesterday we were in the low 80's and today in the 70's so I took the opportunity to run errands because a cold front is on the way tomorrow. If that was not enough we have another front coming next week. I must say this is the first time in many years that we have had some semblance of winter.

I do not know what to do about the white girl cat that has decided to make mother's house her home.  She is a pest, following me around and getting in between my feet.  She appears to have had a family at one time and tries to come inside the house.

As I have mentioned on various occasions my mother lives in Val Verde County and they do not have an animal shelter, only the City of Del Rio does and they will not take county strays.  There are other non-profit animal shelters but again only take city strays, which in my opinion is wrong. They pissed me off when they would not help me when Tammie and Oscar had a run in with a porcupine.

This cat being a girl, it is only a matter of time before she gets pregnant and then I will have an even bigger problem on my hands.  I have enough problems of my own without inheriting additional ones.

Gasoline prices went down .10 cents in the last two days.  HEB has regular unleaded at $2.20 per gallon.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Me and this darn Vertigo

When I went to see the doctor (she is a nurse practitioner) last month I told her about my dizzy spells and she confirmed the vertigo diagnosis.  She told me to take two Claritin daily for two weeks. The two weeks have already passed and I still get dizzy now and then,

The shower curtain had two hooks that had come off the shower rod and that I have been ignoring.  This morning I decided to fix it and got on the ledge of the tub in lieu of bringing a ladder.  Sure enough I got a dizzy spell and fell inside the tub bringing down the shower curtain and rod.  I was fortunate to be able to get a hold of one of the grab bars to help break my fall. I am glad I did not hit my head. I laid there for about five minutes trying to get the strength to get up.

I am now bruised and my arms and legs hurt.  It is a good thing that I had no plans to go out today.  It was a gray, cloudy, cold, windy and ugly day though the sun did manage to come out this afternoon.

I hope your day went better than mine.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

These roller coaster temperatures

We have been having a roller coaster winter and I can not seem to kick this bug that has gotten a hold of me. Just this past Super Bowl Sunday it was 83 degrees, then Monday there was a 20 plus decline in temperatures.  I do not recall a winter with so many cold fronts. No, I am not complaining because I know that in no time flat the scorching heat will be with us and I will miss these cool temperatures.

Today is only Wednesday and we have already had four doctor's appointments and we still have another one this week.  The good thing is that mother's leg wound is almost healed and she won't have to be going to the Wound Care Unit for treatment.

This morning it was cold, drizzly and windy but we had to keep her appointment with her Ophthalmologist.  Thankfully her eye infection has cleared and we won't have to see him for a while.  I really hate early morning appointments in particular when they double book people and you do not get to see the doctor for an hour or two after your actual appointment.

I have not had a chance to go online this past couple of days nor have I turned on my cell phone.  Have I mentioned how much I loathe cell phones?  If it wasn't because of our frequent trips to San Antonio and my affinity for getting lost there, I wouldn't even have one. Anyway, I checked both this afternoon and now I have to drive back into town to go pick up a prescription when I already had stopped at HEB today....grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Spurs Corner

I know my Spurs have not been playing to the level they are capable of but I am still very proud of them.  We are without our best player in Kawhi Leonard as well as Rudy Gay but we are still hanging on to the third spot in the Western Conference.

Though we have lost some games it has not been like a take you behind the shed, a** beating that the Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as the Golden State Warriors, have recently faced.

I watched the Cleveland vs Orlando game last night and so enjoyed seeing Cleveland blow a twenty point lead in the second half.  I felt so happy for Jonathon Simmons (a former Spur) he played lights out against them.  I miss you Jonathon :(

After that game was over I was so energized that I just had to watch the smackdown between the Golden State Warriors and the OKC Thunder. Loved seeing Draymond Green take an elbow in the mouth and crying to the referees about it and then get kicked out of the game.
