I have absolutely no faith in weather forecasters. I therefore took with a grain of salt when I heard that the temperatures were going to be in the high 80's. This morning it was cool, in the 60's and I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon. Our electric bill these past four months has been very close to the $300.00 dollar range even though mother's house is small.
I got up early but decided to give the weather guy the benefit of the doubt and wait till noon to take a shower so I would not have to crank up the heater. I also had this strong sensation that my appointment would not come to fruition.
I was correct on both counts...they called this morning to re-schedule said appointment and this afternoon it reached 87 degrees and it is only March! Tomorrow they are predicting more of the same.
In the past decade I have taken a step backward. The heat bothers me immensely now, which is odd when one has been raised in Texas. Is this something that I have to chuck up to the aging process? Oh well...there is no other state I would rather live in.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
I remember back a few years ago when I took a trip back to my home state of Pennsylvania for a family reunion held the first weekend in July. I suffered from the heat. Back then, few places were air conditioned up there.
ReplyDeleteI recall the geniuses that put together our 20th year high school reunion in Del Rio. They booked a very nice local steak house. Many of us went in our Sunday's best and were surprised to see some classmates driving up to the parking lot in casual attire.
DeleteThe organizers failed to tell the rest of us that this would be held outdoors...guess it must of have been cheaper? Who in the world would hold an event outdoors in the West Texas heat during the month of June?
Needless to say many of us left. Have not bothered to attend anymore reunions since then and I do not foresee going to anymore in the future.
I never did like it when the temperature went much over 80, but now I'm cold when it never used to bother me! Maybe an island with tropical breezes would be fine, but I don't like islands and don't think I'd like the tropics. Guess I'm stuck!
ReplyDeleteLol, Gypsy!
