My cable bill went up

After the first-year promotion ran out for Spectrum bundle services my bill went from $122.62 to $155.53 that is $32.91 more per month.  Guess what?  I am not even going to complain!

In Houston, I had no need for cable as there was always things to do, places to go and more than enough free channels if I wanted to watch TV.  I can not say the same for Del Rio.

After having put up with so many lousy internet providers it feels great to have high speed, reliable internet service with no caps.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. I live in the Houston area but I have Dish. Lots more channels of interesting stuff. I especially like the old black and white shows that they rerun.

    1. MeTv and the like are broadcast over the air in a great many places these days.
Not in the part of Maine where we are right now but many other spots.

    2. Dizzy, I think Dish internet was the worst of all the ISP I ever had, however their TV service was not so bad.

  2. A few weeks back Verizon stopped access for most of the people who'd signed on (thru 3rd party resellers) to low cost unlimited 3g data through a mifi. One guy had been selling that for years... My wife & I used that.
Since then we'd been looking for someway to get internet besides our phones. We're going to give an ATT unlimited deal for $60 a month a try (3rd party reseller again), I really miss good internet.
For TV we have an antenna or one of the several on-line sources..
Just part of life on the road! You folks in houses are SUPPOSED to have good internet & cable :-) !

I fully understand what you mean about just paying for what you get (especially if it good!) and not complaining.

    Let the enjoying continue!

    1. I used to have a mifi through AT&T but my reception was so bad I could only get one or two bars so they let me out of my two-year contract which I really appreciated.

I agree but that was not always possible in the Del Rio area, heck my friends in Terlingua had faster Internet that we did.

I will pay top dollar just to be able to watch my Spurs play.

  3. I cancelled the TV service a couple of years ago; when I called to cancel they offered me internet for a flat rate (turns out to be around $60 a month. I have thought about going back to TV service but I remember how I disliked most of the programs on it but sat there watching garbage anyway! No going back for me.

    1. If I still lived in Houston I would not have TV or telephone service, I would gladly get by with just internet. However, without cable in Del Rio you just have a blank television set.

  4. I would faint if my bill was nearly that high. But if you live in an area where you don't get anything I guess you would pay that amount.

    1. It is that high because it includes TV/Internet/Phone. I am a big San Antonio Spurs fan and "I would die" if I could not watch them play!

  5. The internet situation in Del Rio is just awful. How do people at Laughlin put up with that?

But I'm with you, when you need it you need it, and there's no point in paying *any* money, even if it's a relative bargain, for service you can't rely on.

And think of it this way, if you didn't have the Spurs games to keep you out of trouble, who knows how much *more* money you could waste trying to entertain yourself.;-)

  6. I have often wondered about Laughlin AFB, perhaps they have fiber optic cable or some other provider not available to us civilians.

You have a point, without my Spurs games I would definitively spend a lot more money trying to entertain myself.
