Beautiful weather

One can not ask for better weather than the one we have been having here in West Texas. It has been sunny, in the low to mid-eighties even high eighties in the middle of winter.  It does cool off at night but we have not had a need to turn on the furnace.  A cold front should arrive this week but by a cold front, I mean temperatures in the fifty to sixty-degree range.

Yesterday I finally made some Caldo de Res (Mexican beef and vegetable soup) and used up all the vegetables I had in the refrigerator.  While it is not Caldo weather it felt good to eat something else that was not chicken or a salad.

Have you seen the AT&T commercial where the guy is sitting on the floor of his shower crying after having opened his Internet bill?  I know I complain about every ISP I have ever contracted but with good reason.  When I lived in Houston I had AT&T and I loved them...wish they served this area.

Got an e-mail from DISH saying I had used 90 percent of my alloted 5.0 GB Anytime minutes. Just checked and I only have 0.3 GB remaining but 4.2 GB of Off-Peak minutes.  Off-Peak is from 2:00 a.m. to 8.00 a.m.  They did offer to sell me 1GB for an additional $10.00...how considerate of them...grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

I am trying to finish this within the off-peak time slot.  I will either do a post in the middle of the night or early morning but I am not paying them any additional fees.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. You ought to ask the google fairy to bring fiber optic to your place. Who knows, maybe they will?
I get 5gb of verizon with my straighttalk phone for $45 a month, another $10 will make that 10gb. Cricket has good deals with ATT cell service/data, better than Straighttalk because they allow you to use your phone as a hot spot to power your computer.
With your luck no one has cell service in your area .

    1. That is what I do not understand, Terlingua has fiber optic cable and it's the desert. Del Rio is a "city" with more potential customers and we have nothing.

In the area where mother lives we have very poor cell phone coverage. I have had Sprint, Cricket, Time Warner Cable, AT&T hot spot, Tracfone, Metro PCS and now DISH and they are all worthless in South Val Verde county.

    2. Cricket is ATT owned, they had a 10 gb deal for $65 a month. How many bars of ATT does someone get at your house? If you get any 4g it would be good...

    3. In my bedroom one to two bars. In the kitchen two and if I am very lucky three bars late at night.

    4. If those bars are 4g (or LTE, I forget what ATT calls it) you'd be in business.
My ex-wife had Cricket (ATT network). A hotspot approved Cricket phone, the 10gb option, the hotspot option & auto pay was a even $65 a month. That was how she got on-line.

    5. Thanks Rob, my DISH contract expires in April but I will probably keep them until the NBA season is over then hopefully I can explore more options.

  3. I will have to say I've always had good internet with ATT, but I'm glad I got rid of the TV. I think their pricing schemes are ridiculous and difficult to understand. Living alone I miss TV once in a while but not much. I'm on the computer more, and often play computer games (mahjong & solitaire) in the evenings.

    1. If it wasn't for my Spurs I would drop cable. I can always watch my telenovelas online at the library.

I much prefer a reliable and fast ISP to television but I will probably be dead before we get fiber optic cable in this area.
