Sleepless in Del Rio

Here it is, way past 4:30 a.m. central time and I still can not go to sleep. So what is a person supposed to do to keep entertained at this god-awful hour?  Well, in my case, I like to listen to music from the 70's, 80's and 90's...music that when you look back...made me feel alive and brought so much happiness into my life.

Music not just from one genre but from multiple ones as my profile indicates. https://www.blogger.com/profile/09035993834877022676

I love how just one particular song can transport me back in time... to a far away era and undoubtedly...a much happier one or at least one not so complicated.  Back when I was naive and had no idea what the future held for me.  Thank you, YouTube!

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. The future at 0430 on a sleepless night is never quite what it is at other times.... at 64 I still don't know what the future has in store for me but I suspect it will be interesting!

This time 2 years ago I had not met Karen, life does go on and it can get better!

Your take on what an old song can do is not unique, I pull up music off youtube too from time to time.

    Hang in there Ms Belinda!

    1. I truly believe that if I was able to get a decent night's rest it would improve my outlook on life for the better.

  2. I love music but can do without the rock & roll. I was a big fan of rhythm & blues though, but prefer good jazz from the 50's.

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep. If I toss & turn for more than about 10 minutes I just get up and go turn on my computer. In about half an hour I'm sleepy and can go back to bed. I hate it when that happens!

    1. I am totally the opposite, if I go online it tends to wake me up. I went as far as taking the PC and the television out of my bedroom to keep distractions to a minimum.

The only thing that does work is if I turn on the television and lay down...it lulls me to sleep. So ended up bringing it and the PC back.

    1. Would you believe "I forgot" we had a game tonight? I thought it was tomorrow but as I was searching to see if I could find the Thunder vs Knicks game...I saw that we were playing. Guess my CRS is not getting any better :(

I got to watch the last eight minutes of the fourth quarter and boy the last four minutes were a nail bitter. Manu never ceases to amaze me!

I sure do miss Mr. Billy Bob's posts.

  4. Sorry your not sleeping. That can be a real problem sometimes. I can fall right to sleep but would wake up about 2:30 and not be able to go back to sleep. I take a Tylenol PM before I go to sleep and even if I have to get up to use the bathroom I can go right back to sleep. I just wish I can break the habit of staying up so late.

    Love you header picture

    1. I do not wish insomnia even to my worst enemy. I have considered taking sleeping pills but I am afraid my mother might need me and I would not be able to hear her. I also worry that they may be habit forming.

Last night I was going over my photos and found the new header picture which is rather old but had a soothing effect on me. Glad you liked it.

    2. Have you ever tried melatonin supplements, MsB?

The older I get, the harder it seems it is for me to adjust to daylight savings time changes. Aargh!

My Mom uses melatonin for her insomnia so she gave me some to try. It really works! I take it with milk (which also has always helped me too) before bed.

It's not addictive, it's over the counter and you aren't at all groggy when you wake up or during the night either. I've never had a problem with catching middle of the night calls, for example,& my dog still wakes me easily to go out if he has to. It feels like normal sleep, not medicated.

Definitely may be worth a try if you haven't yet. It's not expensive, either.

PS) Hope your Mom is doing better. We need an update.

    3. I have tried Melatonin in the past but it did not work for me. When I told my then doctor I was taking it, I was scolded and told that Melatonin was not meant as a cure for insomnia and since it is a supplement it is not regulated by FDA and one never really knew how much you were taking or what other fillers it had.

Unfortunately, it did make me groggy. Will do an update on Mom as soon as she has her MRI and the doctor lets us know the results.
