Late to bed, early to rise

Late to bed, early to rise...Yes, I realize the saying does not go like that...but such was the case for us last night.  You see today was our first appointment with the new San Antonio neurosurgeon and we were running around like a chicken with her head cut off.

Stayed up late going over paperwork, packing a bag just in case, as it is always best to be prepared in the event we needed to spend the night or several nights. Mom went to bed a little after midnight and I, at 2:04 a.m.  Considered not going to bed at all, but thought it best to at least try to get some shut eye since I had to drive.

Just after midnight it began to rain.  Checked the weather and we had an 80 percent chance of precipitation.  Great, just what I did not need...to drive while it is still dark and it raining.  Set two alarm clocks in case I fell asleep but got up at 4:00 a.m. as planned.  The two hours of sleep did me good.

Was so glad when daylight came...

Thanks to Google maps found the place without too much trouble.  Right off the bat he was a million times better than the San Angelo one.  For one this doctor was knowledgeable, caring, personable and spoke three languages...another feather in his cap...he graduated from Yale University School of Medicine.

Wanted so much to stop at Target and Academy but with menacing skies decided it was best to head home.

Leilani, one of my blog readers had suggested an eating establishment in Uvalde, Texas that specializes in "gorditas".  While I like them, it is not something I eat very frequently because for one, it is hard to find a place that makes them the way they should be made. Gorditas is one of the few things mother happens to like.

Leilani, thanks for the heads up about Live Oak Gorditas...they were delicious. I told them a customer from the Houston area had recommended them and they were pleased and a little surprised. No wonder they were voted #1 Gorditas in South Texas.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
