Jack in the Box / Home Depot / Tuff Shed / Snakes

Tuesday, April 18th I needed to run errands before it got hot. I stopped at Jack in the Box since they sell breakfast all day. The last time I had something to eat was at noon the day before so I was starving. I ordered their largest breakfast but failed to note that it included mini pancakes...I am not big on pancakes but I ate them anyway.

The saying in their coffee cup made me smile...😊,,,

We turn normal people
into morning people.

Home Depot has been having a sale on heavy-duty containers and I have bought several. However, you need to look closely at them since some are warped I suppose from cramming so many when they transport them.

I ended up having to return three of them...I downsized from 17 to 14 gallons containers this time around.

This storage shed was on sale...though the doors did not look very well put together...I did like that the roof was insulated.

This afternoon on the 5:00 p.m. news my ears perked up when they mentioned that they had a warning for people living in Del Rio. I figured it had to do with drugs but NO to my surprise and why not...my FEAR...it had to do with a large number of rattlesnake sightings in the area. 😱

There is nothing that I fear more than snakes!!!  🐍 Now you know why I have so many cats.

Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

The Worm is Back!!!!

With the nice cool temperatures I hit the stores early.  Saw several elderly men in shorts and short sleeves and knew right away they had to be snowbirds.  Most of the locals had sweaters and warm-ups.  I wore a sweater and coat…I am not taking any chances on getting sick just three weeks away from my trip to Terlingua…no sirrie!

Unlike in Houston I do not frequent fast food establishments in Del Rio because I am fortunate to have my mother cook for me.  Since I had skipped breakfast decided to try a new sandwich I had seen advertise at Jack in the Box.  Did you know they now have this ordering machine or kiosk for lack of a better term in which you enter your order?  I really did not like that.  My Houston store does not have one since it is only a drive-thru.

If you are a Terlingua virgin attending your first cook-off one of the most important things out in the desert after plenty of water is having some form of shade. I have a screen room but it takes more than one person to set up and after the gale force winds of last year I think it would have bit the dust like my tent shower did.

I saw this a few months back and after lifting it up I do not know how they can claim it is light and can be used for backpacking.  Whatever I pack it has to be small enough to fit in a sedan and light enough for me to be able to carry it.  The reviews are 50/50 but I guess it too could not stand up to Terlingua winds even if I were to ratchet it down.

Remember a couple of months back I saw a fast moving dark brown worm in the back bathroom/shed/storage room?  Well this afternoon I saw it in the kitchen but could not find anything to beat it with.  It looks like a fat centipede about 9 inches long and fast moving.  In lieu of killing it I opted to scream and almost scared my mother to death!

It went in a back cabinet and try as we did, it did not come out.  I am freaking out as I sit in the kitchen, as it is the only room in the house where I can get a decent Internet signal. What bait do you put out for a centipede?

With the outrageous prices California residents are having to pay for gasoline, I guess I do not feel too bad for what we are paying in Texas.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Facebook to the Rescue

If you have been reading this blog for a while you probably are aware that for close to a decade my neighbors and I have been fighting an uphill battle with a crack house on our street.  We tried everything to no avail.  You know how we finally got rid of them?  Turns out the sister of the “crack head” posted a nasty remark about her brother’s live-in lover on her Facebook page.

The live-in lover then drove home and proceeded to beat up his sister and the mother called the authorities and had her arrested.  Then the mother finally grew a backbone and threw them out of the house.  Go figure when all else failed it turns out we owe a debt of gratitude to Facebook…thank you kindly Facebook!

Last night the family of the crack head threw a party and I was afraid it would revert back to the old times when you could not even drive into my cul-de-sac from all the cars but as luck would have it they did not invite him and the celebration ended at midnight.

I always buy the Sunday paper on Saturday but with the party decided to stay put and did not purchase it until today.  I just love the Houston Chronicle it is one of the best newspapers I have ever read.

Since I stayed up late I did not go buy my breakfast till almost noon…Jack in the Box serves it all day!  When I came back seems like everyone was mowing their lawn.  Even Mr. Town Crier!  He NEVER mows his lawn, as he is lazy and has always allowed Mrs. Town Crier to take care of that chore.

I confirmed my suspicion…she is avoiding me…that is so very odd for her as she LOVES to gossip for hours on end and a couple of days ago I actually caught her hiding from me.  I am wondering if my Game Cam had anything to do with it?  Noticed she had lost weight, hummm…could the theft of my stair stepper and other exercise equipment from my shed had anything to do with that?  Guess I will never know…

Good Night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
