Back in Houston I bet there are at least six if not more Walgreens within a five mile radius of my house, so one pretty much takes them for granted. In Del Rio there are no big name pharmacies and if you want to shop at Walgreens you have to drive 70 miles to Uvalde. This particular store just opened last year but this was the first time I ever stopped here.
Uvalde has beautiful trees and they go to great lengths to protect them. My mother has always liked this city and enjoys her visits here as well as I.
| They could have knocked down this tree when they made this street but they opted to save it. |
Of course I had to stop at the Derksen Portable Buildings lot http://www.derksenbuildingsusa.com/
Only got to take three pictures when my camera batteries died :-(
They build the Derksen sheds here that are then sold in Del Rio and all over Texas including Terlingua. The inventory in Del Rio is quite thin at the moment and I found it to be that way here as well. They are selling like hotcakes what with all the oil boom in the area. Even the mobile home lot was low on inventory and a big sign proclaimed "oil field housing".
The going price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Uvalde was $3.07 a gallon...a penny more than in Del Rio.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
