Prior to arriving I had slept 2 hours on Tuesday and 4 on Wednesday...I was running on fumes. I do not drink coffee very often but on long trips it is a must. As usual I was a jittery mess when I arrived because of it. I had high hopes of sleeping through the night but I was wide awake by 4:30 a.m.
Sunrise in Terlingua....
As soon as the sun was up I took to the task of setting up my camp. I really and truly considered not setting up the tent only the shower shelter. Why oh why do I ignore my gut feelings? Now I am getting ahead of myself...you will have to wait to a future post.
After I finished setting up camp I heard a helicopter and thought that perhaps it was one of the news channels from the Midland/Odessa area that come to cover the event. Later found out that it was a medical chopper...someone had had an accident.
I took a lot of pictures and I obviously can not fit them all into one post. If you are new to my blog, I am "computer challenged"...to compensate for this I try to change my header picture every day and display a new photo unless I do not have access to the internet.
I think this is an accident waiting to happen...but oh well, you do a lot of dumb things when you are young!!!
Even though I have never been to Burningman in the Nevada desert...I could not help but picture all the naked people that run after the water truck hoping to get a free bath :D
From my camp trying to zoom in to what is going on at Krazy Flats.
In the evening there is nothing better than enjoying the company of your friends around a nice campfire along with a cold adult beverage.
Stay tuned for more stories from the Chihuahuan desert and pictures to back them up.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
Have fun but be careful and don't over do it.
ReplyDeleteDizzy the Terlingua Chili Cook-off takes place the first weekend in November. This took place last week.
DeleteI enjoyed the pictures and I'm looking forward to your bath house story!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the pictures Rob. I have a lot more...I will be displaying them as header pictures throughout the year.
DeleteLooks pretty dusty. I guess you have to prepare for that.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to attend the cook-off you really have to learn to overlook the dust or you are not going to be a happy camper. It just goes with the territory.
DeleteOk so you're posting now what happened last week then that means you survived it all and that's always a good sign. I look forward to you filling in the details, take your time, interesting stories always take awhile to unravel and I know your tales won't be boring.
DeleteRedmike...long time not seeing you comment!!!
DeleteYep, I managed to survive it all :)
Thanks for the compliment on my stories not being boring...hope to not disappoint .
