Late appointment / Whataburger / Sad lady

This has been such a busy week, I am so glad it is over.  As you know I go online late at night usually after midnight.  This week I have gone to bed early...well at least early for me...before 2:00 a.m.

We had a doctor's appointment today and was glad his office called this morning to change her appointment to this afternoon as the doctor was performing a surgery.  We had to wait an additional hour and a half but at least we were in a room and both mother and I sneaked in a nap.

We were so hungry after leaving the doctor's office that we made a beeline to Whataburger.  It was quite delicious and even though mother ordered from the children's menu...she still did not finish it!

Went to the mall to walk it off.  We were about to leave a store when a lady came up to mother and hugged her.  I thought it was a friend of hers. She told us she had lost her own mother last December and how much she reminded her of her.  She hugged and kissed mother goodbye as she rushed out the store. Her husband was sitting outside on a bench and she ran to his arms weeping.  It made me sad but at the same time, I felt lucky to still have my mother.

My procrastination cost me...had the opportunity to fill-up at $2.33 last week but since I waited...today I had to pay $2.48 per gallon.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. Filled up at $2.59 here in North central TX yesterday. If activities keep heating up in the middle east it'll be 4 bucks soon. (I'll switch over to my propane powered pickup at $2.39/gallon)

    1. I agree with all the turmoil in the middle east prices are sure to rise over $4.00 in the not too distant future.

  2. Welcome to the weekend!
When I start grousing about gas prices I remember 1973 and stations without gas...then I'm happy as long as I have the money for the gas!
Well maybe not exactly "happy" :-)

    1. I do not remember the 1973 gasoline shortages but I do remember those in 1979.

Since I worked in the oil patch I gladly took my place in the long lines and convinced myself that it was in some perverse way a form of "job security".

  4. The last I noticed our gas prices are around $3.50/gal.

That must have been so touching for you and your Mom, while sad for that lady. In a way though, it might have been like getting another chance to see her Mom.

    1. California is a lovely state but it sure is expensive.

I can't help but think that perhaps it being Mother's Day weekend also played a part in this lady's sadness.

    2. I paid $2.53 yesterday and it stung a bit. It was low as $2.39 kinda close but not worth the drive to me.

It's about 6:00 PM Mon as I type and the weatherdork sez Del Rio is gonna get some rain! Yay for you.

      Go Rockets

    3. Weather guy said we had a 50% chance of rain but none at least where mother lives materialized...bummer!!!

So glad the Celtics are up 2-0 and hopefully sweep those darn Cavaliers.

If the Rockets lose tomorrow I do not hold much hope for them.
