52 mph wind gusts / More Covid Cases / Tragic news

I went to bed early on Friday only to be awakened around 2:00 a.m. by wicked winds. I was ready though I had packed two suitcases and our important papers and placed them in the car in case the power went out or the roof blew off, we could go to a hotel.

All-day Saturday the winds blew like crazy they got to 52 mph but at least it was not as bad as in some other cities in Texas.

This weekend I decided to take a break from the internet, perhaps I should have stayed away from cable television as well. My DVR is 93 percent full...I do not know why I bother to record programs that I then do not have time to watch. That is my one gripe against Spectrum...they do not offer unlimited DVR recording like YouTube TV does.

I did not go online until this evening and of course, checked El Zócalo for news first and was shocked at what I saw as it had only been posted 1 hour earlier. Upon reading it I immediately went to the online edition of  830Times (a webpage that masquerades as our newspaper) and saw they had posted the news today and updated it with a picture of the victim.

I am still in shock to have read of something that just does not happen in Del Rio...a 12-year-old boy was killed when some individuals shot up his house in a drive-by killing him. https://830times.com/news-del-rio-boy-dies-in-drive-by-shooting/

I can not imagine what deranged individuals did this and the police still do not have any suspects. My heart grieves for his poor parents and family. Del Rio is growing too fast and we are starting to have many big-city problems.

Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. A few years ago we had the same thing happen but the child was only 5 a few weeks later the same thing at the same house. They never caught these animals never! They only said it was gang related so it shows you just how ruthless these people are.

We had some heavy winds here also but I think it was Sat. night. Happy your power didn't go out.

    1. How tragic that they did not find the shooter of that five-year-old. Our news channels come from San Antonio, Texas where things like this are commonplace but in Del Rio, this is very rare. I dare say this was probably gang-related as well.

The strong winds happened on Saturday. I am truly surprised the power did not go out.

  2. It's such a shame how people think nothing of taking another's Life.
    Be Safe.

    It's about time.

    1. It is a shame indeed. I just hope they find these animals and give them the death penalty.

  3. Glad you escaped Saturday's espisode. Strong north winds here today and I am sure you will get some of this cold, cold air.
    Hang in there.
I am sorry to see Del Rio has joined the ranks of "child killed in drivey-by shooting."

    1. The strong winds started last night and continue. It is very cold outside. I am trying to make a post but I am having problems with Blogger this afternoon.

I did not go online yesterday so I am just finding out that they have arrested the three individuals responsible for this murder. They are 17, 18, and 19 years of age...no motive revealed as of yet or that I can find.
