Second day of record setting temperatures / That hideous man

For the second day in a row, we set a new high for the day. Both yesterday and today we reached 109 degrees.

It was miserably hot even at 8:00 a.m. as I was watering the trees.  Paquito was waiting for me by the kitchen door and as usual, ran inside before I could do anything about it. I am getting much too old for this...hope to have a post on the other blog with regards to this soon.

I have also been watering the trees during the day in between commercial breaks using one-gallon milk jugs but the trees are in pretty bad shape as they are old and ant-infested

During one such commercial break this afternoon I went out the kitchen door heading to the front of the house when I ran unexpectedly into Pollito in his new bigger tractor or backhoe or whatever it's called.

He had the nerve to stop and turn it off to start a conversation with me. The first thing out of his mouth was...when do you want me to start clearing the mesquite trees on the other lot?  Is he freaking kidding me? It was ONE YEAR AGO this month that he came for 10 minutes and never came back to finish the job!

I could feel my blood pressure go up...perhaps it was the heat or just my sheer loathing for this individual but I wanted to CUSS the hell out of him but of course had to keep it bottled in because I have to remind myself that this is NOT my house and my mother would not approve of such unladylike behavior.

Like I told him the other time he asked...we are currently self-isolating and do not have the money at this time. He looked at me weirdly as I walked away. When I finally decide to clear that lot, I hope to find another person to do it even if they charge me twice as much.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Del Rio sets another record high for this day

I was online and had the TV on as I listened to the six o'clock news.  I actually thought the station had made a mistake when the weather report came on.  I clearly heard the weather guy say that a record was broken today in Del Rio but when he said it reached 103 degrees I had my doubts.

I checked with AccuWeather https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/del-rio-tx/78840/daily-weather-forecast/331111?day=1  and was shocked that it said we had a high of 109 degrees breaking a record set back in 1991 of 83 degrees for this day.  The low temperature this morning was 49 degrees that is a 60-degree swing in temperatures.

With conflicting highs for today, I do not know which site is correct will have to wait for the ten o'clock news.  Either way, it is way too high for the last day of November.

Confirmed by KENS-5 in San Antonio...Del Rio had a high of 109 degrees today.

Inside of the house, it certainly did not feel like it was that high outside perhaps because it was still cold from last night.  Either way, after the incident with those three creatures two nights ago I do not even want to go outside.

What creatures you might ask?  You will have to read my other blog as not everyone likes to read about my cats.  http://mylittlewalter.blogspot.com/   and I can't say that I blame them that is why they have their own blog.

I went to a website that mutes videos but you can still partially hear me.  The important thing is the horrible beasts I encountered that left me traumatized.  I do not know if I will ever be able to go outside at night.

I have been raking a lot of leaves lately and I recently found another use for my pool noodles as I had a leftover piece after I wrapped the pipes.

This is to protect my boys from accidentally injuring themselves as I already have a one-eyed cat.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Del Rio breaks record for today at 109 degrees

We broke a record for high temperatures for this day in Del Rio when we reached 109 degrees and it also tied a high for the month of August that was set in 1969...fifty years ago.

The high was 109, low 81 with a heat index of anywhere from 111 to 114.  For some reason, different sites had different numbers for the heat index values.

Right now it is 10:44 p.m. and it is still 96 degrees.

Today is also the second anniversary that hurricane Harvey touched down on the Texas coast.  Something many of us would like to forget.

Just a short post tonight.  Got an e-mail from Spectrum that they will be doing maintenance anytime from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. you know when most normal people are asleep. Since I am not normal I guess I won't be able to go online or watch television.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
