We had not had a chance to order new eyeglasses for mother after her cataract surgery. We did not fill the prescription in San Antonio to avoid a return trip to pick them up. Not to mention that they were way too expensive at that high price clinic even using her own frames.
In Del Rio, we do not have many options so we ordered them from Walmart Vision Center. The tech told us that being that she had had cataract surgery on both eyes Medicare would cover a portion but it would take a week for them to authorize the payment. Had I known that out of $149.00 they only approved $39.20 I would not have even bothered.
They called yesterday to let us know that they were ready but there is no way I was going to Walmart on a Saturday. We went early this morning only to find that they did not open until noon. Decided to go have breakfast at Chik-fil-A where we have never eaten before. Was surprised that they are closed on Sunday...how odd!
Went to IHOP instead where I really do not like to go as it is always packed. I have not been able to find my camera in days so took pictures with my phone but I am having a heck of a time downloading them to my old computer. I swear I should be banned from using any kind of electronic gadgets :-(
As we waited for the Vision Center to open decided to use their WI-FI to watch the soap opera I missed Friday only to get a message saying my "authentication failed". I just can't catch a break!
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
Spurs Corner
I am very nervous in anticipation of tonight's Game 4. Perhaps all the coffee I had at IHOP might have a little to do with it too.
I am so disappointed that the Toronto Raptors got swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Was hoping they would split the series like they did last year. I was rooting for Cory Joseph a former Spurs.
Hope to one day make my Terlingua Dreams a reality and purchase my little piece of heaven in the remote West Texas region of the Chihuahuan desert.

Ophthalmologist/ IHop/ Locksmith
How can I describe today? Went to bed at 1.00 a.m. and woke up at 4:15 a.m. Could not for the life of me go back to sleep. Mom had a 10:00 a.m. appointment with the ophthalmologist so we left early without eating breakfast. Dang....even with the eye doctor we had an over an hour wait. I guess I should be used to this...but somehow, I am not!
We went to IHop afterwards and while Mom had an omelet (which she barely ate)...I decided to have an early Thanksgiving dinner since we don't plan on having one on the actual day. Too much trouble to cook something just for two people.

The mash potatoes were dry and the turkey was horrible but you would have never been able to tell it as I managed to scarf it all down.
Afterwards I stopped by the local locksmith as we have been unable to open the front door in the past month...seems that darn DISH guy besides giving us his flu...also managed to damage the front door mechanism after slamming it.
In a perfect world I would have probably walked out after my first encounter with this outfit...but when they are the only player in town...one does not have much choice.
Was told he would be here as soon as his lunch hour was over, but that was not the case. I would have liked to have had the courtesy of a call...but none ever came. So three and a half hours later and after I had to call them as to the status of their arrival...he finally showed up.
It was not an easy job and it took two hours and a beating of the front door to get it to open. All in alI I was pleased with the final result. I also had a lock installed in the outside bathroom and he fixed the door mechanism to our junk room.
When I stopped at their office, I was told they charged in fifteen minute increments so I was a bit pissed as he spent 17 minutes trying to tell another customer over the phone how to resolve his issues. Luckily, I was only charged a $45.00 service fee, a labor fee plus the bathroom lock and it came in a little over a hundred bucks. For the peace of mind it provided...it was well worth it.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
Spurs Corner
Though it had nothing to do with the SPURS...I just got through watching the Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors game. Only if you are a true Spurs fan can you relish this score LAL 77, GSW 111...talk about making my night...that is besides the beautiful full moon this evening :)

Bats, CT Scan, Ihop, Laundromat
Re-scheduled mother's appointment for yesterday Thursday, February 20th at 8:30 a.m. We were on our way to the hospital around 7:10 a.m. when I saw this large flock of black birds but they flew funny. Since there was quite a bit of traffic, I ignored them. When we got to the stop light a block from HEB another black flock of birds flew by...that is when I realized they were bats!
Unless it is a matter of vital importance you wont find me driving the streets of Del Rio at this early hour. Not only did I see bats heading south ( I suppose to Mexico) I saw an unusually large amount of black birds as well. There were leafless trees covered with birds. It looked rather eerie...kind of like a scary Halloween movie. All the way to the hospital we saw wave after wave of bats. My camera was in my purse in the backseat so was not able to take any pictures.
Even though the Radiology Department has someone there 24 hours, they do not open to the public until 8:00 a.m. at the same time that the business office opens so they can take your payment. I always pre-register my mother to avoid the morning rush or surprises like down computers.
We were the first ones there and they took mother for her CT Scan at 7:50 a.m. forty minutes before her scheduled appointment...that was a welcomed surprise! As I was waiting for her I overheard other technicians saying that yesterday it was the CT Scan machine that was down and today it was the other machine.
I went next door to see if it was the MRI machine but no it wasn't it. The time clock is across from the waiting area and what do you know, it was down as well! Got to hear a couple of choice words being uttered as employees were trying to unsuccessfully clock in.
After her tests I asked her if she needed anything else from town before we headed back home. I was so surprised when she told me she wanted to go to Ihop! My mother is not much for restaurants and ever since they closed Luby's cafeteria she refuses to go to another eating establishment. I hurried on to Ihop before she changed her mind....jajajajajaja :D
I had already started eating before I remembered to take a picture.
On our way home we passed the laundromat and there were only two cars in the parking lot. Dropped off mother and went back to tackle that dirty chore. All in all got a lot accomplished yesterday that is why I decided to give myself the day off today.
