March 28, 2012

Got up early because we had a doctor’s appointment in Uvalde, Texas. Yesterday on the way to Del Rio I tried to find the place but since I did not have the address and just a vague idea where it might be, I was not able to locate it.

Today it turned out that the office was right before my eyes, talk about being blind! While I drive by Uvalde every time I go to Houston, I am not very familiar with the town.  It has grown so much lately.  They have a Cancer Care Center that serves the nearby towns so people do not have to go all the way to San Antonio for their treatments.

Was envious when I saw that they are building a Walgreens. To some that live in a big city you might be saying what is the big deal about a Walgreens?  Well to us it is a big deal as there are no big chain drugstores unless you go to San Antonio, which is 144 miles from Del Rio.  At least now it will only be 70-mile drive to Uvalde.

We went to Applebee’s and had a nice meal.  Mom even had beef, now that is a miracle!

I am beat tonight so was planning on turning in early but that was not to be.  My close friends, acquaintances and even my enemies know that I love to watch foreign soap operas or telenovelas or novelas as some people call them.

If you know I am watching my soap operas why in the heck are you calling me if it is not IMPORTANT?  I love this neighbor lady but she calls me at the most inopportune times and keeps me on the phone for HOURS!!

I have my mother to tend to and put to bed, even after reminding her of that she says “I’m not going to keep you very long” and then proceeds to tell me a story about people I do not even know!  Yet I have to take her calls because I am afraid it might have something to do with my house in Houston.

People PLEASE be considerate of your friends that have favorite shows.  You may not like what they are watching but be respectful of their preferences. Ok end of rant.

$3.69 for regular in Uvalde, Texas back in Del Rio, Texas it was $3.79 a gallon so filled up at their local HEB.
My computer is giving me problems again so I have not been able to upload pictures to my Photobucket account.  Will update my posts with pictures at a later time because if I try to do it right now, I may just shoot my computer and put it out of its misery!

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams and not Houston neighbor’s nightmares like in my case :-(

Sunny but cool Sunday

Last night my neighbor lady called me at 10:30 p.m. to let me know she was back from her Christmas shopping trip.  She lives a block down from me and she is a very sweet lady who is in the homeowners association board of directors. Told her I was already in my pajamas and if I could take her my keys tomorrow (today).

She agreed since it was late for me to be walking at that hour.  However she is a chatter and she kept me on the phone for 3 hours 20 minutes 12 seconds.  It would not be so bad if she had not told me these stories hundreds of times before.  I would politely say,  “Yes Ms. Josie, you mentioned that to me before” but it would go in one ear and out the other.  She spent two of those hours telling me about her late husband’s funeral.  I never met her husband besides he died in 1991 and she hated him.  Serves me right for misplacing my keys!!

Needless to say I woke up late.  Had a couple of errands to run but decided to read the Houston Chronicle instead.  What a treat that was, it has been such a long time that I do not read the paper cover to cover.  Lots of information and well worth its price.  Can’t say that about the Del Rio News Herald, they can’t even get the spelling right.  You would think a newspaper would use spell check.

Even though it is well worth the $2.00 price I buy my newspaper at the .99 Cents Only Store for $1.50 on Saturday

Had an interesting article on tiny houses and people that design and live in them

It was a beautiful sunny day even though a bit on the cool side.  Tomorrow in the afternoon we are supposed to see rain.  We need it and its welcomed.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
