I apologize

I apologize to all my readers who have taken the time to send me e-mails.  It was not until tonight that I was finally able to access the e-mail account associated with this blog.  I answered the first one and zap!  I have no idea where it went :(

I am so tired of all these computer and internet problems.  October is probably the most expensive month of the year for me.  Hopefully come Black Friday and the Holidays, I can find me a good bargain on a replacement.

Hope everyone is doing OK after all the heavy rains we have had in the state.  Was on the telephone to two of my Houston neighbors this afternoon and the area where I live was not hard hit...finally some good news!

I am battling a cold that I got from the stupid DISH guy.  He was probably the most unprofessional technician I ever encountered.  He was mad because his supervisor would not let him off work to go to the doctor, so he hacked all over us, even mother is sick.  I would vote this individual the most likely to go postal.  He bad mouthed his company, his supervisors, and fellow installers.  My question is why is he still working for DISH, if he hates it so much?

I have so many things to do this week, I do not know if I can fit it all in.  Until next time, may you all have Terlingua Dreams.

My computer is on its last legs

It is a struggle just to try to get online these days. Have ran malware, done scans but this computer is pretty much on its last legs.

It tells me that I need to replace the battery even though I now just run it using the power cord.  I went to Walmart to check out the inventory and found a few that were reasonable. I guess I could buy one online, but I like to see, feel and try out a product in particular something that I will be using on a daily basis.

Then comes the issue of Windows 8...I can barely operate Windows 7...:-(

Can you believe it is July already?  Time has sure flown by this year.  Wanted to do one last post on June 30th but neither Chrome or IE would open.  If that was not enough my internet service provider kept on giving me the Web Acceleration message it frequently does.  Oh well...me and my first world problems.

I can't wish you Terlingua dreams, as it is almost noon...so have a great day.

Computers and Chili

Hi readers!  Did you think I had run off with my tall weathered cowboy?  Unfortunately, I have not even met him yet!

Both computers are giving me headaches.  I thought I had fixed at least one of them but unfortunately it turned out not to be the case.  We have had several appointments this week with more to come. That is one of the reason I had not been able to make it to the library until this afternoon.

If you have left a comment or sent me an e-mail I apologize for not answering in a timely fashion.

Billy Bob, I finally made the chili recipe you gave me.  I had a little bit of trouble as I was working from memory and we all know how bad mine is. With no access to the internet I could not remember if I had to let it sit for 30 minutes or an hour and if the yellow onion needed to be cooked with the chili or only when it was served.  Anyway, it came out pretty good but my mother refused to taste it...jajajajajaja :D

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Spurs Corner

I knew the game against the Cavaliers was not going to be easy. My Spurs played a heck of a game, as a matter of fact one of the best since last year's finals. Kyrie Irving dropped 57 points against us and it was still a close game.  Go Spurs Go!!!

Having Computer Problems

I am about to pull my hair out!   I have been having so many computer problems lately.  I do not know what in the world I did to my main computer but it just isn't responding.  I have restored it and my little Netbook back to an earlier time but nothing seems to work on it.

I am currently using the Netbook but it is a struggle at best.  Wednesday, I even drove down to the County library but since it was in the mid 80's they decided to turn on the air conditioning to an ungodly freezing temperature.  That made the people who were already sick start coughing and the kids that were accompanying their parents start whining...I left real quick like!

This is when I miss Houston.  I have at least two Best Buys, four Walmarts and two Targets all within a 10 mile range of my house.  In Del Rio all we have is Walmart and they are all out of the cheap tablets they are peddling this week. :-(

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Snafu

It was an absolutely spectacular day...sunny in the 80's...which for a winter day is not bad! Needed to go run some errands but wanted to check some ads online.  Bad choice!  I swear...I guess I will never learn to leave computer related things alone!

Had the bright idea to bring my bookmarks from IE to Chrome and everything went downhill from there!  It has literally taken me HOURS to be able to get back online.

I was so preoccupied with that, that I actually FORGOT my Spurs were playing tonight...grrrrrrr!!! Well, maybe it was all for the best as they unfortunately lost...:-(

My friends like to call it a senior moment...I do not like that terminology...I will just chuck it up to CRS (Can't Remember Doodoo).

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Experiencing technical difficulties...

Have been having a heck of a time with this computer, blogger, and Photobucket. More likely than not user error being the biggest culprit. :-(

You know I always try to answer all the comments left on my blog as I appreciate each and every one of them. I thank you for taking the time to leave them but for some reason it is not letting me respond to them.  Before they used to go to "comment heaven" if I first hit Preview but now even if I hit Publish they are disappearing.

This has taken me about 35 minutes to type.  I have gotten the following message about six times from blogger "An error ocurrred while trying to save or publish your post.  Please try again."  Then in blue it has Dismiss.

Have hit Dismiss numerous times and then it locks on me.  Darn it all...too much aggravation!!!

If I am able to, I am going to try to go to the library...perhaps in a different computer I wont experience these same problems.

Computers / Butterbean Carpenter

When will I learn to leave well enough alone?  My Acer mini laptop has been giving me a lot of problems so here I go to YouTube and learn that all can easily be fixed by just doing a "system restore".

I was so happy when it said the restore had been performed successfully and then it went into reboot. Too easy I thought...sure enough it has a circle going around and around saying it is "logging off" and it wont get past that screen.

I unplugged it several times and turned it on again and it continues to give me the same message.  Hope my current computer doesn't go out on me because I have no other back-up and I do not plan on buying one with Windows 8 installed.  Guess it will be the end of my blogging days.

Today I was sadden to learn about the death of a fellow blogger Butterbean Carpenter due to a car accident that took place on December 11th http://ourrvadventures.wordpress.com/2013/12/15/jans-favorite-christmas-song/

He seemed to have a very good sense of humor and his comments reflected it.  This is my favorite...

Howdy Ms B,

A 'real' cowboy only takes care of 'cows' and I, for one, don't think you fit in that category!!! The 'so-called' young weathered cowboys, nowadays, ain't agonna think or care for nobody but theyselves!!
You'd have to pull yourself off of your death-bed and get'em a drink of water....

We surly do hope you have a HAPPY DAY!!!!

You will be missed Butterbean.  Rest in Peace.

March 28, 2012

Got up early because we had a doctor’s appointment in Uvalde, Texas. Yesterday on the way to Del Rio I tried to find the place but since I did not have the address and just a vague idea where it might be, I was not able to locate it.

Today it turned out that the office was right before my eyes, talk about being blind! While I drive by Uvalde every time I go to Houston, I am not very familiar with the town.  It has grown so much lately.  They have a Cancer Care Center that serves the nearby towns so people do not have to go all the way to San Antonio for their treatments.

Was envious when I saw that they are building a Walgreens. To some that live in a big city you might be saying what is the big deal about a Walgreens?  Well to us it is a big deal as there are no big chain drugstores unless you go to San Antonio, which is 144 miles from Del Rio.  At least now it will only be 70-mile drive to Uvalde.

We went to Applebee’s and had a nice meal.  Mom even had beef, now that is a miracle!

I am beat tonight so was planning on turning in early but that was not to be.  My close friends, acquaintances and even my enemies know that I love to watch foreign soap operas or telenovelas or novelas as some people call them.

If you know I am watching my soap operas why in the heck are you calling me if it is not IMPORTANT?  I love this neighbor lady but she calls me at the most inopportune times and keeps me on the phone for HOURS!!

I have my mother to tend to and put to bed, even after reminding her of that she says “I’m not going to keep you very long” and then proceeds to tell me a story about people I do not even know!  Yet I have to take her calls because I am afraid it might have something to do with my house in Houston.

People PLEASE be considerate of your friends that have favorite shows.  You may not like what they are watching but be respectful of their preferences. Ok end of rant.

$3.69 for regular in Uvalde, Texas back in Del Rio, Texas it was $3.79 a gallon so filled up at their local HEB.
My computer is giving me problems again so I have not been able to upload pictures to my Photobucket account.  Will update my posts with pictures at a later time because if I try to do it right now, I may just shoot my computer and put it out of its misery!

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams and not Houston neighbor’s nightmares like in my case :-(

Computer Problems

I think my poor computer may be on its last leg. I cannot complain as it has lasted me eight plus years.  I keep on getting that dreaded blue screen.  It is slow to begin with so I wanted to download a program to help speed it up and clean up my hard drive at the same time. What I ended up doing was to make it worst.  I think it was Aros 2012 or something like that.

This program would not let me leave its website nor could I remove it.  I have a little netbook but I don’t have Word on that and I need it in order to write my post.  Actually the netbook does not have much of anything, I use it when I need to make a call on Skype or MagicJack but for that I have to drive into town so I can be close to the Cricket tower.

I went to the public library yesterday only to find that they were fixing the main computers. They did have a couple available but instead of the 30-minute limit these were only available for 20 minutes.  The library has high speed internet but for some reason they were super slow and there was no way I was going to be able to do a post within the time allotted so I decided to read some of my favorite blogs before I got booted.

Guess it makes you appreciate your home computer more when you can be on it as long as you please. So if you don’t see me around, you know why.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
