Package Arrived

Have I mentioned that I am not a morning person?  Never have been, never will be but when you have to work for a living…well you have to make adjustments.  I wrongly assumed that when I retired I could give myself the luxury of sleeping in late but so far it has not worked out that way.

Of course we all have different definitions of what sleeping late means.  I define it to mean not getting up till noon or later.  Then again I am a night owl so if I say I went to bed early, I mean it was before 3:00 a.m.

All this week I have been getting up “early” and frankly I am worn out.  Had to make a trip to Home Depot, Wal-Mart and the post office before the heat of the day set in.  Finally received the package I was waiting for, well one of three packages but it was the most important one.  Had I sent it off when I should of instead of procrastinating like I always do, I could have already been to Houston and back.

Speaking of Houston, are there any bloggers out there that live in Northwest Houston?  All my friends and acquaintances live in the City of South Houston, Pasadena or Deer Park and that is an hour away from my house so have no way of knowing if it has rained or not and if we are under watering restrictions in my sub-division since I am in a MUD district and not on City of Houston water.

The only neighbor on my street that I trust has a special needs child plus two grandchildren she takes care of during the day.  I therefore do not like to call her unless it is an emergency. The other neighbor lady lives a street down but most of the time she is under heavy medication that has her sleeping for days on end.

Yesterday when I drove into town regular gasoline was selling for $3.39 a gallon and today Wal-Mart was selling it for $3.32 a gallon…nice .07cent drop in price, and hope it goes even lower!

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  2. I used to live in South Houston and Pasadena when I was in the Houston area. (Two of the best places to be from I've ever known and I have no desire to go back) Sorry can't help you with bloggers there though.

  5. I really ought to know this, but is Northwest Houston considered out 290? I think of The Woodlands as North, Katy as West and Cypress, etc as NW.

Anyway, I'm not there although I do know The Woodlands got hammered with a lot of rain & high winds the other day. (Tues I think?)

But have you tried searching www.wunderground.com? This is how I keep track of weather in my yard when I'm gone.

Just punch in your zip code, the site will 'default' you to a particular weather station, but just scroll down to the bottom and there will be a lot of personal weather stations put online by members & automatically uploading temp/wind/rain data that you can switch to. Chances are pretty good there's even one in your subdivision or click on the one that's nearest to you. You can search by map too, although off the top of my head I forget how.You might have to select the weather map first & keep zooming in to whichever part of town you want to go.

If you want to see what the weather has been in the past week or so, say, that station nearest you will have a history - there's a field to enter the date - and it will have precip totals & other data for that day.

Wundergound's a pretty handy tool for monitoring neighborhood-specific weather any time you want.

    2. Hi Leilani - Yes, 290 would be considered NW Houston but it encompassed a big area. I am closer to the FM 1960 and Cutten Road reporting station.

I remember using wunderground when I lived in Houston and had AT&T high speed internet. It is one of the best weather sites, it is a shame it just takes years to download with my slow connection and old computer.

Thanks so much for reminding of it, I am going to bookmark it.
