Did anyone see the Super Red/Blue Moon?

Did anyone get up to see the Super Red/Blue Moon this morning?  I considered it but my bed was nice and warm and I just did not feel like going outside.  I do not even know if it was visible as there was fog in the area.  I will have to wait until 2037, that is if I happen to be alive on that date.

Even though it got to 71 degrees this afternoon I did not go outside.  For the past two weeks, I am being accosted by a white female cat.  I can not even go outside without she running up to me and /or following me around and whining like I was her mother or something.

I have never seen her before though we do have another stray around her age (about 8 months) that is totally black and that comes to eat the flour tortillas I put out for the birds since I am not able to eat them because of my high cholesterol.  While I hate to throw out food, I guess I will have to.

She is a total pest and tries to get in between my feet, the last thing I need is to take a fall...we have had more than our share of falls in this family!

That is all I have for today folks.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Bad lab report

I did not realize it has been almost two weeks since my last post.  I have been a little...more like a lot under the weather.  It seems like every day we either have a doctor's appointment, labs, trips to the pharmacy or some must do that I have famously put off until the last minute.

I went to the doctor last week to get the results of my labs and it did not go as well as my last visit. Darn cholesterol is up again as well as my blood pressure.  For my cough, she told me to take NyQuil HBP - a formula for those like myself who have to deal with high blood pressure.  I had no idea such a product existed.  She told me that if I did not get better to come see her again...at $95.00 a visit...I think I will pass.

The only saving grace is that my mother has not been affected by my bug.  This past couple of days I spent them in bed but come tomorrow we are back to our daily routine.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

A very cold day

It is days like today that I am glad I am not working.  It has been cold!  Lucky for me we do not have any appointments until later on this week.

I really can not complain though after seeing other cities in Texas who fared worst like San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston.  The rain and sleet did not materialize. The schools were closed today but you would have never known it since everyone stayed indoors.

Monday I had to go pick up a prescription at HEB and I could barely find a parking space. I swear half the town was there making panic purchases in preparation for the cold front. Does one really need to buy 10 or more loaves of bread, 6 gallons of milk, several cartons of eggs plus an equal obscene number of cases of water just for two days?  I was so glad I did not have to stand in those awful lines!

Bundle up and stay warm.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Food for thought...

Yesterday I was busy in the kitchen and for some reason had the television on.  I only turn it on if I am stuck washing dishes and a Spurs game is on or the nightly news. They interrupted with breaking news of what had happened in Hawaii when they inadvertently sent out an emergency notice that they were under a missile attack and warning people to take cover.

I tried to put myself in their shoes and I honestly can not phantom what I would have done. There is nowhere to take shelter in Del Rio and I do not think I would have wanted to be out on the street where everyone is trying to save themselves.  I guess I would have hugged my Mom told her how much I love her and waited for the impact.

My interest in prepping came in 1999 when I was seriously worried about what would happen in particular with the Russian missiles that could have gone off due to Y2K.  My plan was to be in Terlingua on that date, however, the company I worked for canceled all December vacations and we worked until late that day.  Since I needed my job and in case nothing happened I had no other alternative but to stay.

Back then I had Terlita (my camping van) and I made sure to always have it stocked with food, water, and other items I would need in case I had to leave at a moments notice. Unfortunately, Terlita is now parked in the garage in need of a new transmission.

I do not know if it is even worth prepping as a nuclear attack even if I was fortunate enough to survive it, the aftermath would surely kill me.  Food for thought...

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Modem problems / Blogger Woes / Influenza

I had such a busy day yesterday, I had hoped to be able to take it easy today but alas we are expecting a cold front tomorrow and we were running low on groceries. Needed to run other errands and I rather do that on a warm sunny day than on a cold, windy and foggy one.

I think there is something wrong with this Spectrum modem but I do not have time to wait for a technician.  I am also having problems getting Blogger to post my comments, it takes a long time to do so.  Have no idea if it is my computer, the modem or Blogger...:-(

This past week I have been running around with a face mask and people look at me cautiously and ask..."do you have the flu?"...my response "No, and I want to keep it that way!".  The influenza epidemic is out of control!

Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

First Post of 2018

It took me eight days but here is my first post of 2018.  My computer has been freezing up a lot lately and since I go online late at night I am too tired to mess with it or to drag out my old laptop.

I hurt my right shoulder doing yard work and it hurts in particular when I try to move or carry something. I need a yardman, a maid, a cook and a chauffeur...too bad it is not in the budget :-(

It was a beautiful sunny day with a high of 73 degrees.  I am looking forward to not having to hear fireworks this evening as the kids went back to school today.

We have a busy day tomorrow so I am going to turn in early or at least early for me.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Spurs Corner

The Spurs schedule for December and January has been grueling. These back to back games are killing me. Last night's loss to the Trail Blazers by one point was a little disappointing but it was a good game.

Manu has been playing great as well as Davis Bertans.  It is a shame Kawhi hurt himself again but we finally have Aldridge playing like the player he was when we drafted him and that we did not see for two years until this season.

Dang, Toni twisted his ankle!

Tonight's game against the Kings was not pretty but OUR guys pulled it off!!!

Go Spurs Go!!!
