Dairy Queen / Home Depot / Walmart

I ordered some items online and thought they would email me so I could track the package. I went to the post office since I had not picked up the mail in over a week and luckily my shipment had arrived.

It was after 2:00 p.m. and I had not eaten so I stopped at Dairy Queen to try out their Cheesy Steak finger combo.

I like Dairy Queen and Whataburger and while I can only speak about the Del Rio franchises both are either hit or miss. The Cheesy Steak fingers were very salty and almost burnt. I decided to buy a hand-dipped cone to clear my palate.

The darn thing was barely dipped in chocolate, I should have saved my money and gotten a regular one. I seldom give feedback but I will online tomorrow. I did not complain because we only have one franchise and I do not want them to retaliate the next time I go.

I headed to Home Depot to purchase some clear containers that are on sale. I spent most of my time trying to find a salesperson to get them down from an upper shelf. I was going to purchase a 27-gallon container but settled on two 17-gallon ones.

Home Depot is located across the highway from Walmart...so paid them a visit. The YouTube channels I follow mentioned that canned corn and various green beans continued to be on sale for .50 cents each. That is a good price and bought several for my preps.

I bought a bag of mesh avocados (five) for $3.74. I usually purchase mine at HEB where they are cheaper but with prices changing every day who knows?

Checked out egg prices to see if they had dropped with Easter on the horizon but they had not. Needless to say, I did not purchase any.

A carton of 18 large
eggs $3.88

A dozen brown cage-free
eggs for $3.14

They had a good price on Great Value individually packaged tuna...80 cents each.

Gasoline prices at Murphy USA this afternoon...Unleaded was $3.129 a gallon while Diesel was $3.429 a gallon.

Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. I have never tried any of the foods at Dairy Queen but the cone sure looked yummy even if it didn't have much chocolate on it. Jack n Box is having a mint ice cream thing and I am dying for it. I'm 8lbs away from my first goal and don't want to mess it up but dang I want it so bad, LOL
The eggs are a little higher here but compared to what the were over $9. I bought 2 , 18pks. at $418. Gas is going back up here $3.89 and 3.99 and of course I let it go down to 1/2 grrrrr.

    1. Even with very little chocolate the cone was better than the food. Congratulations on being so close to your first goal. Eggs are so much cheaper in Houston when I look at their grocery store ads but a little far to go to purchase them.

Do you think now that that winter tourists have gone back home that the gasoline prices will get lower in your state?

    2. Well thanks for the warming on DQ food lol.
As far as the gas going down it sure doesn't seem like it will go down according to the news last night. And really seems like the winter folks are hanging on here. Still to much snow events going on.

    3. Actually, DQ does have good food I suppose it just depends on who is cooking it. The cheesy steak fingers looked so good on TV but I failed to detect a cheesy flavor...it was all salt :-(

I thought of the comment I made to you last night when I heard this morning that Saudi Arabia was cutting back on their oil production causing prices to skyrocket. I was going to fill it up yesterday but true to form put it off...so I am paying the price for my procrastination!

  2. Most of the Fast Food outlets around here have the same issues as your's do. They say it's hard to keep good help but forget to pay them a decent wage.
We have the same issues with high prices. The government here in Canada thought that sucked so much the raised the Taxes on Fuel and Booze.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. The problem with fast food outlets has been going on for years though in Del Rio, it is a little different because we do not have that many jobs. Therefore, people tend to stay longer at their place of employment.

I would be fine with the government raising taxes on fuel and booze, if we had a free health system as good as your country has.

  3. I go to DQ for the chili dog (if they have it) & I'm looking forward to the next time I get close enough to a Whataburger to stop in! I just looked, it's 188 miles northeast... Some day :-)

Those plastic storage totes? I usually buy the 10gal ones these days, they usually don't get too heavy, I've put too much in the larger ones and regretted it.
I will get the 18gal ones if I plan to store bulky items or something that is not going to be moved after its filled & in place.

    1. I had forgotten that Dairy Queen sells chili dogs. I am more of a meat person...I mostly eat hamburgers when I go. When properly prepared, Whataburger does have excellent food, though I have been dissappointed more there than at Dairy Queen.

I have back issues, so I had to scale down to a smaller tote and went with the clear ones. I am tired of having to search through my boxes and solid colored totes to find what I need. Last year I purchased one of their 10-gal totes (the heavy duty black and yellow) and I love it!
