Nice cool weather

Yesterday and today we have had rather chilly temperatures for this part of the country.  Yesterday it was 55 degrees in the morning and today it got down to 48.  A sharp contrast from the 90's of a few days ago.  No complains here, I am loving this weather.

For the past couple of days we have had strong winds as well, glad they are gone.  Tried to do a blog post two nights ago but once again I was jinxed by the Internet gods!  So as not to bore you I will put the message as a Cyber Journal note for future reference.

Would you like to see the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight for free and live along the Mexican border?  TV Azteca is carrying it live for free in Mexico whereas in the United States it is a pay-per-view event.

How do you do that?  Unplug your cable connection from your TV and do a channel scan to pick up the Mexican channels that are beamed to the border from Mexico City.  It is going to be carried by channel 7 but in HDTV's I believe it is channel 25.1 or something like that. It will be broadcast starting at 9:00 p.m. This has been a public service announcement :)

Not much going on except me being glued to the TV watching the playoffs.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Web acceleration Client Error (515.2)  Upstream TCP Connection Establishment Timeout.

The web Acceleration Client could not create a TCP connection with the web server or proxy server. Retrying the web page may connect the problem.

Did a Windows Network Diagnostics and it gave me the following message....The connection between access point, router or cable modem and the internet is broken.

How did I solve the issue?  Unplugged the modem and router and went to sleep!

High Winds

Last night we had high winds that per Weatherbug had gusts of up to 63 mph.  The lights kept on flickering and making the internet connection go down. It took me over an hour to write last night's short post.   I even turned off the A/C to protect the system.

Went to put out the trash this morning and found downed tree limbs, buckets from my rain catchment system for dummies in the next lot, and a lot of junk that Walter's owner had taken out of his horse trailer earlier this week...now in our property.

We were under a tornado watch this evening but thankfully that has expired.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

A Day to Stay Indoors

The wind started blowing like crazy very early this morning.  Though half asleep I could hear the tree branches rubbing against the roof and a whistling sound coming from the fireplace.  Today was a day to stay indoors if at all possible.

Spent it balancing my checkbook, paying bills and trying to get my receipts organized for whenever I decide to try to tackle my taxes.  I'm not in too big of a hurry...what is the rush?...after all I have until October :-)

I am trying to convince the guy that does my yard in Houston to sign up for Paypal.  It would sure cut down on stamps, checks and trips to the post office.  Even saw where Walmart is now accepting it as a form of payment.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Catching Up on Blogs

The wind last night was pretty strong at times.  Was concerned about the people at the different campgrounds in the area as well as the bloggers that live in the Terlingua area, especially Tffnguy since he has a broken arm.

So far this year we have yet to turn on the A/C even though we have had some rather warm days already.  I am sure it will have to be turned on soon…it is after all Texas.

Was hoping to make it to Home Depot this afternoon but got lazy and decided to catch up on all the blogs I follow instead.  Since I usually don’t go online until midnight I don’t always have time to catch up if I miss a couple of days.

Billy Bob I know I mentioned an aluminum ladder but this is really what I meant...a small ladder or step stool…so you could climb up to your RV ladder without having to hurt your back carrying those heavy cinder blocks.

Wanted to share something with you guys that I read last year when I was trying to find natural ways to fend off mosquitoes.  It said to put fabric softener sheets that go in the dryer in your pant pockets or to pin them on your clothing.  I thought it was a little crazy but when I was mowing the yard I was unable to find any of my long sleeve shirts but came across my dryer sheets and decided to give them a whirl.

I was so surprised it worked!!  Well at least it worked on the mosquitoes outside, did not get bit not even once.  However it has not worked on the ones that are inside the house. It is those that I am concerned about since my Mom is allergic to chemicals or sprays of any kind.  Anyone have any natural mosquito killing solutions you would care to share?

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
