While it started out cold it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day with a high of 77 degrees. However, change is on the way and the next couple of days will be cloudy, cooler, and rainy. Took the opportunity to hand wash some of my nicer sweaters...have I mentioned how much I hate cold weather?
This weekend I decided to re-arrange my closet but did not get very far...watched Hallmark movies instead. Could not help myself and tuned in to my favorite cable news channels only to raise my already high blood pressure numbers even higher. This past Friday Anderson Cooper announced what the current occupant of the White House was planning for his farewell ceremony.
Yeap, just like the TV caption reads: Amid Massive Security Inaguration Operation, Trump considering 21-gun salute, Red Carpet DC Departure.
Rather than write a rant-filled post decided to let a couple of days go by but honestly the news...if you are a news junkie like I am...just gets worse by the day. Now "The Pillow" guy is also giving advice to the sore loser?
At least this evening on "The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell" his audience got some good news and some bad news. First the good news...

The bad news is that over 100 Pardons will be forthcoming tomorrow but the worse news is that he does not have to make them all public. He can pardon himself, his family members, and cronies but we will not know about it until they are charged, and then the pardon will become public. Lawrence mentioned that it would not be convenient for him to make some of them known as his impeachment trial will soon get underway and it might make some Republicans vote against him especially if he pardons himself and/or some of the domestic terrorists.

These past four years have been full of egregious acts by this individual. I like to stay informed but sometimes one has to take a step back and relax, or at least in my case I do because of my high blood pressure.

From what I have heard and read he cannot pardon himself or his family as there have been no charges against any of them at this time. He's such a loser that he has to make his own parting parade and red carpet. Good By to total trash!!

A president has never pardoned himself before but this individual likes to push the limits. He has been advised by his counsel not to do it but remember he does not listen to anyone but himself and if he feels it will save his hide...I do not put it past him.
DeleteFrom what CNN and MSNBC are reporting this evening they sent out a mass mailing of invitations that went to people that left office a long time ago and now hate him like Anthony Scaramucci, General John Kelly, Ex-Ambassador John Bolton, and others that say they will NOT attend.
Wanting more people to show up they ask that each person brings with them an additional five persons. On the Rachel Maddow show which by the way was excellent this evening, she said that the military has to show up because until 11:59 a.m. tomorrow he will still be president, and they have to follow orders.
I'm reading this on the morning of the inauguration. I woke up this morning feeling wonderful, and with joy in my heart. I can barely remember the horrible things about DT, but I put my American flag outside and am only thinking of the good things to come for our country. The "destroyers" have followed behind a horrible president for the past 4 years and made our lives miserable. Now we have a good team to stand behind - Biden and Harris - and I think much of the damage will be repaired, as will our standing among free nations. I went to sleep last night with a song running through my head, and I even remembered all the words. The song was "God Bless America". If we all focus on those words, or those of the national anthem, we can clear our minds of the atrocities we've had to put up with for the last 4 years. We Shall Overcome!

ReplyDeleteOn the scary side, I had an old friend pop by out of nowhere and he and his wife went to Washington. Total tRumpers. Off his rails talking about this and hinting there may be more mayhem. He says they didn't go inside. So I was horrified but trying to keep a poker face. I did tell him I didn't share his beliefs and that we should agree to disagree. I was so shook over this that I will now not answer my door so easily, no matter who I see standing there.
I hope you are staying warm and enjoying our new administration. I always watch Rachel and always think of you.
I am sure we have not seen the last of the drama. Stay vigilant and keep your guard up.

DeleteWhat happened to you is scary! I still have the front gate locked so if someone were to knock at my front door I would not answer it and would grab my peashooter. Figure if they know where we live then they should have the decency to call first especially in these times of Covid.
I wish I was optimistic but sadly the actions of the one-term twice impeached sore loser's followers make me believe otherwise. There will no doubt be more drama and I fear we have not heard the last of the orange demagogue.

Just ran across a youtube video of "Melania" (fake?) when she left AF1 in Florida. That tent she was wearing with oranges...that cost $3700.00...was the ugliest thing I have ever seen. And the hairdo? Something is wrong with that whole picture. Also has a different walk than "Melania". I have watched a few more things..never saw Barron. Did you? And the crying of his other children was just hilarious to me. Oh BOO HOO. No tears for the families that were torn apart..nor tears for 400,000 dead Americans, etc. Saturday Night Live should have a field day! :)

DeleteI saw Barron with his other brothers, sisters, and their offspring waiting for his parents to arrive for "the farewell party" and then proceed to Florida. I never saw any footage of their arrival in Florida. I didn't see them crying either.

DeleteWell now. Here we are after a lovely day in DC. I don't usually watch tv, but I did watch the inauguration, and this morning, I watched am internet clip of 3 ex-Presidents standing on the DC Mall, and talking last night. It was nice. It was all nice. And seeing the ex-Pres'made me realize I had forgotten that a President might be a full-fledged human being. What a relief. Now I'm going to try to wean myself off the reality show of the news...I usually only read it anyway. I'm going to try to do less. Otherwise, I'll just keep getting outraged by things. Such as Cruz wearing a "Don't Tread On Me" mask yesterday. I may try to devote myself in some way to getting him out of office rather than reading about him and getting pissed. It may be a rocky road ahead, but I do think it will be better now.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed every second of the inauguration yesterday including the three ex-presidents talking. I am not sure if it was on CNN or MSNBC that a commentator made reference to the fact that the loser would NEVER be part of that Exclusive Club and I could not agree more.
DeleteI will definitively be getting involved to oust that worthless Ted Cruz out of office just like I tried back in 2018. It was the first time in my life I ever attended a political rally, made a political contribution, and volunteered in a political campaign. I wish Beto had won but even though he did not...he made a lot of strides all over Texas.
It will not be easy as the prior incompetent administration left a dumpster fire. Though I am hopeful as I have full confidence in President Biden.
