Monday I finally went to pick up the mail from our P.O. Box and was shocked at how much I had. Never since I moved to Del Rio had I ever had my excess mail placed in another box...you know the ones with the orange knob key. When I got home I finally figured out I had not been to the post office in three weeks.
What a week this has been, I think it was Saturday (the days get blurred) when I decided I was going to treat myself and watch some YouTube videos I have been putting off for weeks when there was Breaking News about the sore loser's tape of his shakedown of Georgia's election official was leaked and I went down that rabbit hole.
Tuesday night I was cautiously optimistic about the Georgia run-off senatorial elections. I was watching the coverage but fell asleep and when I woke up at 3:00 a.m. I was glad at least one of the elections had been called and Rev. Raphael Warnock had won. The other election was too close to call and since I was unable to go back to sleep kept on watching the coverage.
I had debated whether or not to watch the disgraceful spectacle that was going to take place today with regards to the certification of the electoral college vote. Decided it was history in the making but minutes into this sham the coverage shift to what turned out to be an even more disgraceful act of sabotage, lawlessness, and treason lead by supporters of the sore loser.
What the hell happened? Why did they not have more police officers when they knew that Trump was going to hold a rally and fire up his followers. Where was the national guard that the D.C. mayor had asked for? Why was the head of Homeland Security on a farewell tour overseas? Why were there so few thugs arrested? This is shameful, shameful, shameful!!!
If the 25th Amendment was not meant for a situation like this then when in the hell are we going to use it?
I am watching Congress reconvene to certify Biden's win after Pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol this morning and disrupted this procedure. A little late but Pence finally found his cojones.

It is unbelievable to me how some people can believe all this disgraced impeached one-term president's lies. How can some otherwise normal individuals think there was widespread voter fraud that robbed him of an election he LOST.

There is so much blame to go around for what went wrong yesterday. They interviewed the Governor of Maryland who had the manpower ready to cross into Washington D.C. but he had to have the authority of the Department of Defense who would not return their call. The Governor would get a call an hour and a half later but from another department to authorize it. Lots of wasted time and so many questions that need to be answered.
I don't know why everyone is surprised? He had been planning this for weeks and everyone knew it. My big question is why the Capitol police were so easy to overrun and undermanned. A blind man could see this coming ffs.
ReplyDeleteI read that the public need not be informed if they invoke the 25th, so I can see where this is carefully orchestrated to appear spontaneous when it was just the plan all along. Plus they can impeach after the 20th and that would prevent any future political ambitions.
The woman who got shot was completely nuts..a tRumpers fanatic. I have zero sympathy.
So they have him tucked in at Camp David and most of his social media is shut down. Sounds almost like house arrest to my

That is exactly my point, how did the FBI, Homeland Security, the people that monitor social media, etc., etc. not think that there would be trouble when many of Trump's followers are members of far-right extremist groups and white supremacists who are always showing up with their guns in tow.
DeleteFrom what I have been hearing Pence lost his cojones again kept Schumer and Pelosi on hold for 35 minutes this morning and then refused to take their call as he knew what it was they wanted.
He had two cabinet members resign not out of principal though they claim otherwise but just so they would not have to vote in case they had to invoke the 25th Amendment. I don't think he is at Camp David but at the White House.
Pee Ess...Just watched a new video of tRump and he gave a short speech about unity, peace, etc. Someone must have pointed a gun at Ivanka's head for him to give that speech. Totally unlike anything he has ever said and obviously written by someone outside his crew. Too little, too late but I believe the plot has thickened.

I've been reading/watching all this a lot more than I should.It was a horrendous event. I think the last time anybody got shot actually in the capitol was early 50's when some extremists from Puerto Rico invaded Congress.
DeleteActually, maybe nobody was shot. I can't remember details, but I do remember it was a big deal. That was in the 50's. But this episode is waaaayyy beyond all that. I hope we can all survive the fallout. But so far, so good. Congress went right on and did the right thing. What I fear is that 40% of the USA probably thinks they didn't do the right thing.

DeleteThe second video resembled the type a hostage would make at gunpoint...you could tell he did not believe a darn word he said. It was reported that he told his aides later that he regretted making that last video where he acknowledges there would be a peaceful transfer of power.
JudithK - I have been watching a lot more of my favorite cable news channels as well. None of them mentioned the shooting you mention only when the Capitol was burned during the war of 1812. The British troops marched into Washington on Aug 1816 and set fire to the Capitol, the Presidential mansion, and other landmarks.
