Feast or Famine / Little Blood Suckers / Marina closed

I do not know why it is always feast or famine in my little part of the world. After months of a severe drought, we are getting heavy downpours daily. The worst kind is those that occur in the middle of the night, such as last night.

I suppose I should be happy as it has kept the people that drive out to the county (where it is legal) to pop fireworks to remain in their homes within the city limits. Only Thursday did I hear a few.

I took a day off from the computer yesterday and binged watched some of my favorite HGTV shows. How I wish there were people you could trust in Del Rio to make home repairs and minor remodeling jobs. Sadly, in all these years we have not found any...the same goes for Houston.

It was inevitable that the little blood suckers would sooner or later make their presence known and today I was bitten by those darn mosquitoes. I spent most of the morning dumping standing water but there are pools of water everywhere as the ground is saturated by all the recent rains.

We have 326 new Covid-19 cases bringing the active positive cases to 726. They are comprised of 140 children from 1 to 9 years of age. There are another 140 youngsters ages 10 to 19 years old. There is no one hospitalized locally. The numbers are down a bit from the last report. https://www.zocalo.com.mx/reportan-326-nuevos-contagios-de-covid/

When I drove to the lake last weekend I forgot to mention that the Marina is closed. I do not know the details as I had not been there in at least a year.

There was only one boat that remains anchored at this facility...

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. Glad you are getting rid of the standing water where Mosquitoes lay their eggs. On the other hand I hope you continue to get more Rain to raise your water levels up.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. I have no other choice but to remove the standing water or see more bloodsuckers come alive. I also do not want the cats to be bit since they are outdoor felines.

It would take the steady rains of 3 or 4 hurricanes to even start to make a dent at Lake Amistad.

  2. Stinking bloodsuckers here too! Even though we have not had anymore rain in over a week they are ready to attack. I started to empty all the dirt out of the flower pots since all my plants died of heat stroke but those nasty little buggers are in the soil even though they are dried out.
I know rain is much needed at your end and we are still in a drought here also. But it is nice to have a little dry out.

    1. That is the only good thing about the drought we did not have to deal with mosquitoes but those suckers are here now. I could not help but smile when I read that your plants "died of heat stroke"...:-D

I agree we need a little dry out because no matter how much it rains it might be years before the levels at the lake are back to normal.

  3. Don't know why I am having to write a post twice these past few nights.
Nasty blood suckers are horrible here too. While we have dried out a bit they are here.

    1. It is because I have my blog on moderation due to spammers.
