Car inspection / Dairy Queen / Life is Good / DD's

I had intended to drive into town early but as usual, other things came up.  At three o'clock I decided that no matter how hot it was I needed to take my car to get inspected. I lucked out as there was only one car ahead of me and I passed the time talking to the owner's father who is a very jovial individual. I have mentioned this small family business before it is called Mario's Tire Shop. They will gladly do business with you but they do not take checks or credit cards only cash.

Today was Double Spoon Day at Dairy Queen, that means you get an extra spoon that will count toward the five spoons required to get a free meal. I do not care for Apps on my phone, I only have two...Dairy Queen and Border Wait Times.

It was delicious! 😋

Headed to my bank but this time to the branch at the mall since I was running out of cash but forgot to ask for a checkbook cover and a register that my new credit union won't provide for free. Marshalls is across the way from them so went to check it out. They had lots of things on sale but I only purchased this neat contraption that is a 4-in-1can cooler that will accommodate a regular can, tumbler, slim can, or a bottle. It will come in handy when I go camping this fall.

I liked the story behind the guys that started this company. For five years, Bert and John Jacobs drove up and down the East Coast, selling their T-shirt designs on the streets and in college dorms. They slept in their van, lived on PB&J, and showered when they could. Then in 1994, with just $78 to their names, they designed their first Life is Good t-shirt to counter the negative news and discovered how those three simple words could inspire people to focus on the good. Today, Life is Good continues to spread the power of optimism and help kids in need.

Then I headed to DD's where I bought a collapsable dish rack and a little sink mat. The dishwashing rack cost $4.99 and the matching nonslip soft sink mat was $2.99 much cheaper than online or at Ollie's.

Tomorrow will be another day of running around hopefully I can take care of everything in the morning hours.

Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

A beautiful sunny 89 degree Winter Day

It was foggy this morning and on the cool side. It was not heavy jacket weather but cool enough for me to wear a blazer.

I went to check out winter clearance items at Marshall's but they have not been marked down enough to my satisfaction...will perhaps pay them another visit next week.

Why is the expiration date on Harbor Freight coupons printed so small? Or perhaps it is just my eyes?  Had cut out two 20 percent off coupons only to learn they expired earlier this month. I had to go back to the car to get my cellphone only not to be able to access my e-mail account. Oh well, I really did not need that tarp.

I wanted to go to Dollar Tree but there was a homeless man asking for money almost by their door.  I have noticed we have had an increase of homeless people and panhandlers in the city.  Wonder if they are coming from California?  Read they have a serious problem in the Los Angeles area.

Did a quick grocery run to Walmart instead. I was surprised that even though it was a national holiday there were not many people there. I supposed they spent their money on their sweeties on Valentine's Day.

The trees are blooming all over town. These were by Jack in the Box.

There are many lush trees down the main drag but I could not safely pull over to take a picture.

We had a low of 63 and a high of 89 degrees today. However, Old Man Winter is going to make an appearance late Tuesday night and bring with it much needed rain.

Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Lost check showed up / Marshalls / Dollar Tree

I needed to make a trip into town as I refused to do so during the weekend when stores are super crowded.  I have been trying to find my face masks as I am afraid to get a cold or worst but again have no idea in which of my many boxes they are at.  I seriously need to buy a storage shed even if it is not the size I would like.

The first stop was the P.O. Box where just as the post lady told me if the first check that was lost in the mail ever turned up...it would be returned to me and it was...in a torn and tattered envelope.  Now if only my HOA fee would also show up but in Houston.

Headed to the only mall we have in town to check out the clearance aisle at Marshalls and also purchase one of their $1.00 plastic bags.  Prices are still too high so I will return in February.  Their Marshalls dollar bags have shrunk considerably asked the clerk why and she said she did not know.

I needed to go to Walmart but since I was going to buy perishables decided to go to Dollar Tree first. I misplaced my watch and I am not about to buy another one so I never know what time it is. Yes, I know I could check my cellphone the problem is I usually have it off and I leave it in the trunk of my car.

Once again I lingered too long and it was getting dark by the time I came out not to mention that it looked like a storm was on the way.  Never made it to Walmart...maybe tomorrow?

It was a beautiful day.  We had a low of 55 and a high of 83 degrees. We were one degree from tying a record set in 1947 of 84 degrees.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Another early trip to town

I got so much accomplished the other day when I drove into town early...that I decided I would do the same today. The difference was that I was sleepy this morning.

As soon as I gave mother her 7:00 a.m. medication I went to open the gate and put out the garbage can.  Once I confirmed that she had gone back to sleep I took out the big trash bag from my bedroom. Good thing I did because they decided to come early. Two of my neighbors missed the garbage truck.

Was headed to Walmart when I saw a lot of cars at Ross and decided to stop and see why. Found out they open at 8:00 a.m. and there were plenty of people taking advantage of it...mostly well-to-do Mexicans.  There were license plates from Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tlaxcala and as far away as Puebla, Mexico.

Marshalls is also located in this mall...so went to have a looksie there too. Spent a lot of time in their ladies handbag department but I was strong and did not buy a thing. Was leaving when my right leg started to give out on me.  Darn it all and my car was FAR!

I really need to go back to see the doctor but even with air conditioning it is hot and the lines to cross back to the United States from Mexico are long, as there are a lot of folks on vacation.

You can go in to Ross and Marshall's without coming inside the mall.  I therefore had not noticed they have a lot of benches. I am so glad they do, as I spent quite a while sitting there trying to regain my composure. Needless to say the trip to Walmart was canceled.  I did not even go by the P.O. Box.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
