There is a remote possibility that a friend of a friend of a friend...may bring some of my camping gear that is in my house in Houston...not holding my breath though.

This year the entrance fee went up by ten dollars to $40.00 and if you only attend on Saturday it now costs $20.00 . In comparison to what a ticket to Burningman or one of their Texas sanctioned events costs...this is a real bargain!

Steady influx of RVs loaded with trailers full of toys headed for the cook off. As usual I won't be going though. There's a lot of griping from the locals about the admission increase and that's one more good reason for me not to go. A couple of gentlemen with the Austin American Legion post want to bring back one of the pre cook off cook offs back to out legion post. I'm still considering it.

Do not quote me but I believe this was new this year though I did not know about it until I had already arrived. If you are a veteran and have your ID to prove it, it was half off that being $20.00
DeleteIf you were a regular Joe or Jayne and you drove up to the gate and said "Black Gold" they knocked off $10.00 off of the admission fee.

DeleteFour of the guys in my camp are Vietnam Vets and were able to get in paying $20.00 after another of the guys heard it on the radio I believe in Odessa.
