Insomnia / Breakfast at Stripes / Rush Hour

Went to bed at 4:30 a.m. but was wide awake by 7:15 a.m.  If you can sleep all night or are able to take a nap during the day, count your blessings, you have no idea how lucky you are.

It was a cold morning and I wanted something warm as well as a hot beverage to go with it. Headed to my favorite to go place Stripes, where I ordered two tacos and Chocolate Abuelita (Mexican Chocolate) for a very affordable $3.86.

This afternoon I made another trip to town to run more errands and tick off more things from my To Do List.

This is the second time that I am trapped during Del Rio rush hour (almost sounds laughable that we have such a thing) and to make things worst the long trains that traverse through our city made everyone head for the overpasses (we only have two).

I felt pretty good that I was able to take the back streets and avoid it all.  Made me wonder why I was in the minority? I guess I really am back to being a Del Rioan!

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. Not sleeping is not fun. I do pretty good at 5-6 hours a night no complaints here.

  2. Sounded like a good breakfast to me! Nothing wrong with knowing how to get around in the town you're currently living in...

  3. Don't talk too much about your route that skips all the traffic because when others find out about it, it will also be jammed up with traffic.

    1. No worries on that front as I have no followers in the Del Rio area.

Maybe it is the area where we live (the county) or the fact that as a kid I rode my bicycle all over town when it was a small city.

Perhaps these commuters live within Del Rio City limits or depending on their age spent a lot of time on the computer and not riding their bikes like people my age did as youngsters.

  4. That Laredo Taco Company sells some pretty good, really cheap, tacos. Nice they are at Stripes in so many Texas towns including small ones, like Sanderson where they're the only warm breakfast in town.

    1. It is important to mention that the Laredo Taco Company who leases space within Stripes is the one that makes these delicious tacos and great lunch and dinner plates.

Sanderson, Texas like you mention is an excellent example of this. While I have not been up that way in two years it is a good place to have breakfast.

Safe as well as it is frequented by many in the law enforcement community such as Border Patrol, Department of Public Safety (DPS), and Sherrif's Department just to mention some agencies.

  5. Since the dog sleeps on my bed, it wakes me up briefly every time he moves or stretches. I would love to get a long uninterrupted sleep one of these nights.

  6. I feel so bad for people who have a sleeping problem. I guess I'm lucky I take a tylenol PM and sleep so well. Before if I woke to go to the restroom I could not go back to sleep now I have no problem. My daughter has a sleeping problem but the tylelon or other sleep aids do not work for her.

    1. I am glad that as a teenager and young adult I slept more than most people. During the summer I would sleep for 14 hours and as a young working adult I would catch-up on my sleep by sleeping through the weekend.

I have been prescribed all types of medication but they were only temporary solutions and after a while quit working. I know what your daughter is going through.
