The honeymoon is over

Why is it that this part of Texas has the worst ISP?  I have had dial-up, Cricket hotspot, AT&T MiFi, Time Warner Cable, Dish satellite internet and Spectrum.  With my latest ISP (Spectrum) I bundled internet, television and home phone to get a better price.  It was all fine and dandy until three months ago.  Since then we have had episodes of one, two or all three services going out for hours despite there not being bad weather.

Last night thankfully after my NBA games (or I would have gone ballistic) the cable started freezing, the internet kept on dropping me and I could hardly hear my uncle on the phone.  The honeymoon is definitively over with Spectrum....grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

When are real ISP going to come to Del Rio?  We need you!!! Help!!!

This morning I went to the library as my internet was still out.  On the way saw a lot of Spectrum service trucks working on the lines.  At least they were addressing the problem.

Our library took almost three years to be remodeled and expanded.  They knocked down three old mansions and now take up a city block.  However, they did a poor job of allocating enough parking space.

To the left of this picture is a church and if I was them I would sue the County because all these cars do not belong to churchgoers but to library patrons.  It was early so there weren't as many cars as there usually are.

The same held true prior to the remodeling and expansion everyone used their parking. Del Rio is big enough that we could use two libraries.

If you were thinking of using the Amistad Dam Port of Entry to go to Mexico or come back to the USA...I am sorry to say that as of today it is closed for 30 days...or until further notice more than likely the latter.

The skies were menacing to the south. I love how this old mansion across the street from the library is framed by the clouds.  I have always loved this mansion my parents bought an old bed frame and some chairs in a garage sale over 40 years ago and we still have them. Wish I had the money to purchase it ((sigh)).

However, to the north the skies were blue so I headed to Dollar Tree and Walmart before the tariffs kick in and the prices go up.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. Spectrum was the best service in Rockport. It stayed running nearly 60% of the time down there.

  3. I have a DSL line that I run our computers on, but the TV is Dish satellite. The only time the satellite goes out is when there is very heavy clouds in a sever storm. I have bee quite satisfied with both.

    1. When I lived in Houston I had a DSL line from AT&T and loved it.

You are the only person I know that is happy with Dish Satellite for your television service...there is a reason why they went out of business in Del Rio. Even two of my Houston neighbors dumped them as soon as their contract expired.

My unscientific theory is that due to the fact that you live out in the country with few neighbors around you are able to get a good signal and thus have relative few problems with DISH.

    2. Choose GSW!

I want to pass on a good deal to you and your followers since you provide local gas price service. I have been buying from Murphy USA or Murphy Express for a coupla years now as they always have the lowest price. When pumping I see the credit card promotion on the pump - save 5 cents per gallon with the Murphy Visa Card. I finally succumbed and ordered one online and recv'd 5 days later. Needed a half tank fillup at a new station they just built 1/2 mile from me. Price was $2.269 but when I inserted card it changed to 2.219 - immediate savings right at the pump. I thought it would be deducted at monthly billing so I was happily wrong. Every nickle helps! You can find them at some WalMarts and now they are building stand alone stations.

    3. I can not just choose a team and bang they lose...it has to be heart felt...I could NEVER cheer for the GSW. With that said I feel that even if they do reach the Finals that they will 3-peat.

Thank you for sharing your Murphy USA or Murphy Express credit card five cent discount. I can not believe you are paying $2.269 and with the discount $2.219 in San Antonio.

In Del Rio were are in the $2.539 range.

    4. This is gonna be a good series! Bucks did what they're supposed to do.

Forget the WCF. Pinche Golden Warriors.

    6. I enjoyed Game 1 of the Raptors vs Bucks better than the Trail Blazer vs Golden State Warriors.

I actually thought the traitors team was going to win since they were ahead for three quarters then I dozed off and when I woke up the Bucks were ahead. Technically I did not cheer for them...so they found a way to win :D

    7. I would have liked for Denver to have won the series between them and the Trail Blazers. I think the Denver Nuggets would have had a better chance against the GSW.

The Trail Blazers will be lucky to be able to win even ONE game against the GSW.

    1. I did give them credit for that. However, I am also having trouble with their equipment...modem, remotes and kitchen cable connection.

    1. "When I was with Century Stink"...jajajaja...what a GREAT take on the name!

How I wish some big name internet service providers like Comcast or AT&T would come to this part of Texas.

That mansion is my favorite of all the mansions in Del Rio and we have quite a few.

    1. That is just it George we have no competition in this area. Spectrum is considered the most "reliable" and is also the most expensive. I do not mind paying extra for good service but there just isn't any in this part of Texas.
