More Covid-19 cases / San Felipe Creek Closed / Darn Pissy Ants

If you have been following the news you know that Texas is among one of many other states who have been setting daily records of new Covid-19 cases. Even our Ruby Red Texas governor has said "If you do not have to go out...stay home!" and is now allowing local governments to issue face mask mandates although without fines or penalties they are useless.

Nelson Wolff (Bexar County Judge) was smacked on his hand as well as verbally abused at a San Antonio Lowe's for coming to the aid of an employee who was letting a customer know he needed to have a mask on.

All these Coronavirus cases are becoming worrisome to me. I so wanted to treat myself to breakfast today after doing some early morning yard work but decided otherwise. It appears the only store in Texas that is transparent about virus infections is HEB...neither Walmart, Target, or others for that matter release that data.

San Felipe Creek has once again been closed by a mandate from the City Council until cases go down. With the 4th of July just down the road, I think this is a good move.

The pissy ants are driving me crazy. With my CRS...I completely forgot to look for ant traps and borax last time I went to HEB. I have vacuumed, mopped with both Clorox and then tried a vinegar solution to no avail :-(

Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. There has to be a balance somewhere because in the middle of rising numbers someone wants all businesses to open without the use of Masks. Common Sense is something they seem to lack and it could keep our borders closed indefinitely.
Be Safe fighting with the Ants and Enjoy what pleases you.

    It's about time.

    1. I agree there has to be a balance to mitigate this pandemic while at the same time keeping the economy open. This would be easier if this administration would stop politicizing the use of face masks.

  2. I sure agree that it is the insistence the economy stay open, will ruin the economy in the long run as well as lead to many more deaths.

    1. That is why I greatly admire Governor Andrew Cuomo. He was able to do almost the impossible by flattening the curve in New York and doing it smartly without caving in to the pressure of this administration to open the economy at all costs and be dammed how many people die in the interim.

  3. Our red governor had now rescinded the mandatory mask and has left it up to the towns and cities to decide. WTH! They strongly advise people to wear a mask but that leaves us right back to more not wearing masks again.

    1. Our governor had no choice but to come to his senses and pause the state re-opening with the day after day record-breaking new Covid-19 infections.

I do believe he knows that using face masks saves lives but doesn't want to rock the boat with this administration so at least he is leaving the face mask issue up to local authorities and thankfully ours are smart.

  4. It is amazing that Abbott now sees this virus with his spectacles on and is closing some barn doors, now that the bull is out. What on earth was he thinking to wait this long? But still no mandatory face masks.
We still have low rates here but the numbers are rising. Very few wear masks here and it worries me.
I hope you were able to score some good chow. Be careful of prepackaged salads as several states are now reporting problems like ecoli.
San Felipe Springs is such a beautiful place. I think they are smart to close it for now, but it's a shame. With the 4th of July coming up there will be another bunch of idiots getting together. I detest fireworks and am not looking forward to that. I know your neighbors like them So am sending my sympathy ahead of time.

    1. Don't forget that Texas has lunatic Lt. Governor Dan Patrick who a couple of months ago made news by saying that if a couple of old people died because of the virus...it would be collateral damage in order to open up the state!

I know Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin's mayors whose towns are now having huge surges have been trying to talk sense into him. I think the sheer statewide numbers might have sobered him.

I heard about the pre-packaged salads but I believe it was the ones that are cut-up like garden salads in plastic bags. I buy the ones that come with everything in a container that you can eat out of.

I am not sure but I believe the 4th of July City Fireworks display are going to be canceled...that means that all those idiots will be coming to visit their friends and relatives where we live...and it is legal to pop them.

The problem with that is that we are in a severe drought and they could cause fires like they did three years ago when the neighbors house was burnt to the ground.

  5. I started using a pamper as a mask. It’s cheaper than ordering and buying a mask online. Works good. Ordered a big box of pampers from Amazon. I was using a cone coffee filter for a mask, but I had to tape it to my face. It was a hassle, since I have a beard. The pamper works so much better. Have a nice weekend. Watch out for the Saharan dust.

I do not remember if it was on Steven Colbert or Seth Meyers Show but they had this girl on and I laughed so hard and I did the same tonight after watching it. Thanks.
