No Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp...is the world coming to an end?

I had a doctor's appointment today and could not help but note a few unhappy faces in the waiting room as they played with their phones. This was my first visit to this doctor and when the nurse was taking down my information another nurse came in and asked her if her FB was working...my nurse replied that she had not gone into FB today. Seriously people you are at work...why are you checking your social media accounts?

It wasn't until the 5:00 p.m. news that I became aware of what had taken place with regards to these Apps worldwide. I could not help but think of my cousin who carries two cell phones around with him at all times. He probably had a mini nervous breakdown 😂

Since I was already in town I made a quick trip to Dollar Tree and was surprised they hardly had any shoppers which was great for me!  I picked up 12 jars of mushrooms and a couple of bags of buttered popcorn before the prices go up.

Another reason for going to Dollar Tree was to kill time until my medication was ready. That is when I went to look for my phone to see if the pharmacy had texted me yet and realized I had left the phone at home.

I was going to go next door to Harbor Freight after putting my buys in the car but it was just too darn HOT so headed to pick up my new medication using the drive-thru window only to be told that it was not in stock and would not arrive until tomorrow from San Antonio...grrrrrrrr...another pitfall of living in a small town.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. Not being an addict of FB (though I have quite a few other addictions), I thought this was funny. But a lot of little businesses rely on it to some degree, because it is free to them and I gather easy to use. I often look up local food places, and just keep scrolling past the solicitations for me to join to see if I can see the menus or specials! Ha. My oldest friend (not in age, just since I was 14, which is now 62 years) DOES, in spite of herself check it and use it for social things. When she wrote that she was trying to figure out how she was messing up getting access, I told her to read the real news before she broke her brain. Well, it's always something, as Rosanne Roseannadanna said on SNL back in the 70's.

    1. I have no idea how FB works nor do I want to learn. A close friend of mine is addicted to that platform even going as far as accessing it in Terlingua since they put a cellphone tower at CASI ranch a couple of years back.

While I can't speak for others, I for one like to forget about the real world and enjoy my time there free of any electronics. It was so much more enjoyable when there was no internet access at the chili cookoff.

You just brought back good memories of SNL. I loved Gilda Radner's character of Roseanne Roseannadanna.

  2. It always amazes me that people use Facebook. I have too many conspiracy theory phobias to be baring it all. ;)
That's hilarious about the two phones. I admit I spend too much time on YouTube, though.
Sounds like a good mushroom and popcorn haul. I see lots of posts about what people stockpile and most underestimate how many snacks and treats they will crave. I love Crimini mushrooms. Fresh are best, but canned or in a jar will do. I was 24 years old before I ever had a mushroom and haven't stopped eating them since.
I know what you mean about waiting a day or three to get items. Same here and more often than not, it will be a week or two. No Wal-Mart. I love living in a place that is slower. It is changing, but I did snag the "best last place".
We had a glorious day of rain. Some small hail. It is amazing how happy rain will make you after such a hot dry spell like we have had.
    Take care my friend.

    1. I think I have mentioned in the past that before social media I was active in Univision forums and chatrooms...it was a great learning experience where I saw the best and worst of people. It was there that I learned what information to "never" give out. That is why when Facebook was invented based on my Univision schooling I chose to not join that format or any other.

Since "La Casa de Los Famosos" premiered I have started watching way too much YouTube on my Roku TV to give my eyesight a rest from the computer screen as it is also carried by them.

I recall you mentioning Crimini mushrooms before but I must admit I have no idea what they look or taste like. If it is not packaged, canned or frozen it does not make it into my shopping cart.

I am glad to hear that you finally got some rain to go with your wonderful temperatures. It was 95 degrees today and expected to be hotter this weekend.

Take care as well Ms. Penny.

    2. How odd...I have no explanation for it. Did anyone else have this problem?
