Dairy Queen / Buttered Popcorn

Drove into town to pick up our mail and run some errands. It had been a while since I had rewarded myself so I stopped for a late lunch at Dairy Queen and enjoyed some steak fingers, fries, and some cold unsweetened iced tea. Thought that would be sufficient but kept on seeing people coming in and enjoying an ice cream cone...so if I had already cheated, might as well cheat all the way...therefore proceeded to purchase one as well 😋

Stopped by the $1.25 Dollar Tree and scored big! The last time I was able to buy buttered popcorn was back in December 2021.

In case you are wondering...NO...I did not hoard all the popcorn...left plenty for others though I was tempted to buy some more.

Noticed that in their frozen food section they now carry items selling for $1.25, $3.00, $4.00, and $5.00

In their can food aisle, some items are selling for less than $1.25 but I can not bring myself to buy Vienna Sausages. It brings back memories of an individual we dislike that ate them straight out of the can...yuck!!! 😝😝

We had clouds until noon so we only got to 100 degrees this afternoon but temperatures are forecasted to be higher tomorrow as well as this weekend. It is currently a little after 1:00 a.m. and it is 89 degrees.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Another record high set today

Today we broke the record high of 98 degrees set back in 1960 when we reached a high of 100 low of 67 with a heat index of 105 degrees.

There are cooler temperatures on the way and the possibility of rain starting late this evening. When I say "cooler" I mean temperatures in the low 80's.

Raked more leaves and finally after three years filled a hole dug by Oscar one of the stray dogs that I used to take care of.  Why bother after three years?  I almost fell when I was bringing in the laundry from the clothesline the other day.

This area used to be covered with high weeds that Pollito's wino sidekick cleared when he mowed the lawn (weeds) that is why I had not fallen before.

Used the pulverized horse pine pellets to fill it in.

This evening I was able to talk to another dear friend of mine that I had not had a chance to talk to in a while.  E-mails are nice but it is better to be able to converse in real-time.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Statins and Parkinson's disease

I hate it when I have time on my hands because I will undoubtedly spend it watching YouTube videos or reading health related articles and then going into a panic. Such was the case today as I read about people who take cholesterol lowering medication, also known as statins, then stopped and developed Parkinson's disease.  Just last year I read where the opposite was the case...who to believe?

Why do I bring this up?  I firmly believe statins caused my CRS or contributed greatly to it...that is why I quit taking them a couple of years back.  As you will recall my trip to the doctor in Mexico did not bring me good news and once again I had to get back on them. Been considering not taking them anymore as soon as my stash runs out...guess more research is in my foreseeable future.

It has been awfully hot, as I type this it is still 89 degrees at 1:05 a.m.  I have been hiding out and only going outside for very short periods of time.  We reached a high of 100 degrees / 38 Celsius.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Darn that grass cutting fairy!

Another sleepless night, all I could think about was those weeds that need to be mowed...darn that grass cutting fairy...never shows up when you need her :(

Went to bed at 4:15 a.m. and since I could not sleep, got up at 7:00 a.m. and headed on over to HEB to beat the crowds.  On the way back, I saw that there were two cars at the laundromat...decided I would rather do laundry than tackle the weeds.

When I got there, there were a lot of cars!  Almost came back home but knew I did not like the alternative...so for the next two hours I did laundry :-(

This afternoon we reached 100 degrees so I was glad I decided to tackle this tedious chore early.  As an added bonus I did not have to deal with any screaming kids.

The weeds?  Like Scarlett O'Hara used to say "tomorrow is another day"...

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

A nice warm 100 degree day

I got up early (8:10 a.m.) as I could not sleep any more...it was humid and hot.  We finally turned on the air conditioner and mom put on a sweater (she has a cold) and all was well.  Since I was already up decided an early morning trip to HEB was in order as I have not been able to go to Ciudad Acuna, Coahuila for our monthly grocery run.

Stopped at Stripes to check out their breakfast plates which are only $2.99 daily.  Had been eyeing  a Stripes coffee mug that will actually fit in my car's cup holder as my $1.00 Dollar Tree mug has given all it is going to give.  It sells for $3.99 and the first refill is free.

You might ask yourself "Belinda, I thought you did not like coffee?"  Well it is not that I do not like coffee... it does not like ME.  It makes me jittery, nervous and short tempered but if I do not drink it on trips out of town...I get very sleepy. I happen to be the sole driver in our household and I do not want to wind up killing us both.

Since I was all peppy decided to go to the laundromat and get that chore over with.  It was awfully hot especially since I was driving dad's car (no A/C).  It wasn't until this evening that I learned it had reached 100 degrees (38 Celsius).  Guess we turned that A/C just in the nick of time.

It is past midnight and I am still jittery from the coffee I drank more than 15 hours ago!  See what I mean by coffee not being my friend :-(

As a side note for the readers that prefer to send me e-mails versus leaving a blog comment...I have another change for you.  I do not know what the heck I did to my e-mail account terlinguadreams@outlook.com as I am not able to access it.  Until further notice please use terlinguadreams@gmail.com.  I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
