This weekend I decided to take a break from cable television...I say "Cable TV" because in Del Rio you HAVE to have cable or you have a blank TV.
So how did I entertain myself late at night when I can not sleep? Decided to read my old posts. I am so glad I made the decision almost eight years ago to start blogging. If you have been reading me for a while you know that I have "memory issues" more commonly known as CRS (Can't Remember Shit).
Reading my prior posts was like re-living events I had long ago forgotten. To this day I have NO idea how Billy Bob and Nick found me when I did not tell a soul not even my close friends that I had started a blog. I am thankful though as they posted a link on their sidebar to bring even more readers my way. Wish Billy Bob would start posting again. Nick deleted his blog and I believe he is no longer in Terlingua...sure do miss him.
I did find a common thread and could not help but laugh about that. For one I still...hate yard work, dislike lying mechanics, continue to be computer challenged, I want to be able to move to a cooler place during the summer months and can't cook to save my life....jajajajajajajaja :D
Now I will ask my readers...how is it that you came to my blog. I would like to thank each and every one of you...I truly value your readership.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
Header picture for this post...
Hope to one day make my Terlingua Dreams a reality and purchase my little piece of heaven in the remote West Texas region of the Chihuahuan desert.

Is my CRS progressing?
I bought two items almost two weeks ago and for the life of me could not find them. Has my CRS progressed? Had even considered that perhaps I had thrown them away. After days of looking for them, I accidentally found them hanging in my closet. Boy was I happy!
Drove into town this afternoon and promptly returned them. Was going to stop at Whataburger to buy me a patty melt but since it was dinner time the place was packed. Decided to go to Jack in the Box instead to try their sourdough version of a patty melt. I will be kind...I do not plan on doing that again!
Needed to run more errands but decided to head home instead since my night vision is bad. This is when I noticed that it is getting darker later so at least I had more daylight to get home.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

CRS vs I have no recollection?
Was talking to my friend Linda Lou who is 15 years older than I am. She can not believe that I can not remember people or events within our circle of acquaintances going back 25 to 30 years ago. Gee, am I the only one that suffers from CRS? That or I have early dementia :-(
Speaking of lack of memory, my doctor suggested I try Ginkgo Biloba and I have been taking it for the past seven months and at least in my case, I have seen no benefits... so as soon as I finish this bottle...I am done!
Perhaps, rather than saying I suffer from CRS...I should say "I have no recollection"? Then maybe more people could sympathize with my plight?
The trees have shed most of their leaves in the last two days when normally they don't until mid to late December. I think the fact that I did not water them this summer may have had something to do with it.
We are expecting rain late tonight and all day tomorrow. We really need the precipitation as it has not rained in weeks. I am still conducting my experiment of being able to live off of my primitive rain catchment system. Unfortunately, if I was living off grid I would have run out of water two weeks ago.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

I am so proud of my guys, in particular, the young talent. They played a fantastic game against the OKC Thunder that was winnable and could have gone either way. They played against the starters, not the bench players. Though we lost, it really felt like a win...our future looks bright!
GSG!!!

Technology/CRS/ Uvalde
Some times this computer works and sometimes it gives me fits...lately it has been nothing but problems. Spent almost an hour trying to pay mother's car insurance online. Decided to call their 1+ 800 number and was done in less than a minute.
Remember I found $111.00 from my 2012 trip to Terlingua? Well, I got the bright idea of buying a tablet, when I have never used a tablet before in my life. I am shouting at the darn thing as my fingers are unable to tap on the keyboard. Then it wants to force me to set up a G-mail account when I do not want one. I should of kept the cash!
I downloaded a different keyboard but have no idea how to make it permanent. Sadly technology was not meant for me :(
This has not been my week. My CRS is getting worst but at least I can blame it on my Fibromyositis. I needed to have the front passenger tire checked before our trip to Uvalde last week and of course I forgot.
It was raining as I went to get the car from the garage to park it up front so mother would not get wet. Wouldn't you know it, the darn low tire indicator decided to turn back on. No problem as due to the weather we had a two hour head start and I could stop at the tire store to get it looked at.
Came back in to load our overnight bags just in case we had to spend the night at a hotel if the weather got worst. The phone rang and it was the Uvalde doctor's office calling to let me know that mother's lab work had not been faxed to their office despite the assurance from the labs that they would have them to his office first thing in the morning.
Now my two hour cushion was gone as I had to go by their office to pick up the report. I drove by the tire shop but they had several customers so decided to take my chances and drive with a low tire even though from looking at it you could not tell it was low.
We had a 3:00 p.m. appointment and did not get to see the doctor until 7:10 p.m. We were out of there by 7:30 p.m. and he still had patients waiting. Had it been raining I would of gotten a room. We got into a thunderstorm about 20 miles before Del Rio in Bracketville, Texas.
How do you all like the time change? The only good thing about it is that now no matter how late we get out of the doctor's office at least I wont have to drive in the dark. Other than that I hate it.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

My CRS is getting so bad I forgot we had a game Thursday. Only got to see the last five minutes but no problem saw that they were going to retransmit it at 1:00 a.m. I am known for being an insomniac yet now that I actually wanted to stay up, I fell asleep during half time :(
We have been playing so well especially at home. I guess many of the younger fans are spoiled because they take making the playoffs for granted when people my age got to be fans through the lean years.
I so wish my dad was still around to see his team be so successful...he would be so proud.

Plagued by the three C's
You may be saying to yourself...what kind of a title is that? What are the three C's? That would be Clutter, Computers and CRS...:-(
While I am loving my new DISH satellite TV and Internet, it didn't come without a price. I had to clear out half of my already small bedroom to make room for the technician to install the cables and hardware.
So what is the big deal? In order to do that I had to resort to temporarily packing more stuff into my already large collection of boxes. Since I was doing it in a hurry, I did not label anything trying to fool myself into thinking that I could somehow remember its content.
I needed a document that I vividly recall placing in my briefcase within the last two months...it wasn't there. Lets just say I had a heck of a time locating it. I used to be so organized...what the heck happened?
For a change I had more computer issues. My main laptop is freezing up on me. It takes me a long time to be able to respond to comments or it outright loses my reply and I have to start over. On a positive note the old laptop that the worthless Time Warner Cable installer ruined two and a half years ago is working again...the downside to that is that most sites are no longer compatible with Windows XP and it has very little memory left.
Went to our local library to answer comments and do a post and for the life of me I could not remember my Google password....grrrrr!!!!!
When is it CRS and when is it early Alzheimer's? Is it just me or do other people have trouble remembering things? I write a ton of notes but then they go into boxes that I never open up again unless I am looking for something like I was last week.
I am definitively plagued by clutter, computers and CRS...:(

Snafu
It was an absolutely spectacular day...sunny in the 80's...which for a winter day is not bad! Needed to go run some errands but wanted to check some ads online. Bad choice! I swear...I guess I will never learn to leave computer related things alone!
Had the bright idea to bring my bookmarks from IE to Chrome and everything went downhill from there! It has literally taken me HOURS to be able to get back online.
I was so preoccupied with that, that I actually FORGOT my Spurs were playing tonight...grrrrrrr!!! Well, maybe it was all for the best as they unfortunately lost...:-(
My friends like to call it a senior moment...I do not like that terminology...I will just chuck it up to CRS (Can't Remember Doodoo).
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Skype / Obamacare
I am so tired of seeing this message, I could barf!!!!!
Skype Click to Call has crashed
Ever since hotmail replaced their IM with Skype I see it daily. Anyone know how to get rid of this short of quitting hotmail, the only e-mail I like? Ok, end of rant.
As you all know my life changed drastically since mother got sick back in July. It has been doctors, hospitals, CT's, MRI's, operations and trips to San Angelo, Texas. A lovely town by the way but one I would rather not see for a while or perhaps under different circumstances.
Why do I mention all this? Because now I am in charge of everything which includes cooking....and you all know I am barely able to boil water and that is no lie...last night I forgot about the water and I could of caused a fire! But then again that could have been my CRS (if you don't know what that is look at the banner on the right) coming in to play mixed with Nyquil.
Anyhow the point I am trying to make is that these days I barely have time for anything let along watching the evening news. Last night I watched my first complete newscast since July...and what do I find? Today is the last day to sign up for Obamacare or I am going to be fined!
I know I am a procrastinator but I really did not put this off on purpose. All I heard these past months were of delays and complications in the sign-up process and even an extension but no firm deadlines. Guess I better get with it :-(
Hoping everyone's day goes better than mine.
UPDATE
Good news deadline has been extended until Dec 24th http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/12/23/countdown-to-obamacare-deadlines/

Back to procrastinating
While I love living in Del Rio...there are some things I miss about living in the big city... like.the post office being opened on Saturday. I know it is my fault for not wanting to drive in the rain and leaving everything to the last minute but I really needed to have a letter postmarked...oh well :-(
Ran a lot of errands this morning but I have no pictures to show for it because I somehow misplaced my memory card. The cheapest gasoline price was at the new Stripes $3.14 a gallon with their debit card and $3.17 without it. For some reason half of the pumps had the yellow "out of service" bags on them. Have no idea why but I was not about to wait in line at the available pumps (patience is not one of my virtues) so off I drove...maybe I will fill up Monday?
Needed to make a trip to the dreaded laundromat but that place was jammed packed! Another item that will have to be postponed. What I can not postpone any longer is getting all my tax documentation together so I can take it to my CPA. I have the October 15th tax deadline looming bigger and bigger as each day goes by :-(
If my procrastination were not bad enough...my CRS has decided to give me a run for my money as well! For the life of me I can not find my mouth guard, not even the old one and I have misplaced the medications I recently purchased in Mexico!
I really need one of those sheds I often feature on the blog so I can bring some form of organization into my life. However, I have to weigh whether I want it in Del Rio or in my future place in Terlingua as I obviously can not afford one at both locations.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Two Trips to Town
Got up early (for me) 8:11 a.m. and decided to water the trees along with the few plants I have not managed to kill yet. It was overcast but humid and we did get a shower…well more like a sprinkle… that lasted all of two minutes. That is when I spotted a county worker mowing on the main road into the sub-division. Waved to him and asked him if he would be kind enough to mow where my weed eater was not able reach outside of mother’s fence and he did. Must say the new County Commissioner for my district has done a great job and has kept his campaign promises something rarely seen these days.
Trouble in Texas asked if the header picture was my house. No, it is not. We were driving around when I saw the beautiful Esperanza’s in this house and just had to take a picture. Esperanza’s are very popular in Del Rio and you will see them in the yards of humble homes as well as in mansions. I bought two for my Mom last year but lost one to the sleet.
Have not called the Maytag guy so decided to drive into town to visit the local laundromat. The big machines are still $3.00 each but the regular washing machines jumped in price from $1.75 to $2.00 guess it is only a matter of time before the price goes up on the others as well. Have a lot blankets as well as my sleeping bags to wash so I will probably be making a return trip soon.
One of the main reasons I drove into town besides washing clothes was to pick up my mother’s medications but as hot as it was decided I would do so AFTER I finished washing. You guess it…I FORGOT!! Darn, this CRS (Can’t Remember Sh*#) syndrome is getting worst. Needless to say, had to make another trip to town :-(
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Missed Appointment
I cannot believe I missed my doctor’s appointment on Tuesday. I cannot blame this on my CRS syndrome as I was cognizant of the fact that I had an appointment just wrote it in my calendar on the wrong day. Was asked on another blog what CRS stood for when I made a comment.
CRS = Can’t Remember Doodoo (ok it’s another word but I’m being nice)
I learned my lesson a couple of years back when I took a day off to attend a doctor’s appointment and had to drive all the way to the Medical Center in Houston, fight traffic, pay to park and then be told that the doctor did not come in. Pissed me off to no end that they did not have the courtesy to notify me. Now I call to make sure my appointment is still on.
I love my doctor but his staff is another matter. They used to call to remind the patient that they had an appointment the day before. Mind you I am not blaming them but what makes me mad is when they tell me that they DID call. I hate lies especially when I was home and we do have an answering machine in case we weren’t and there is also the caller ID and no call was received.
Remember last month when I went to HEB to have my cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose levels checked and they all came back badly? Well I have been doing a lot of research online and now I am not so sure I want to take cholesterol-lowering medications. Besides being expensive they have a lot of side effects one of them is memory loss and another increase glucose levels, which can lead to diabetes.
Like Mom says, “medications cure one thing but bring on others illnesses”. Need to do some more research.
