Val Verde County Property Taxes / High of 87 degrees / Rowdy-drunk neighbor is back

Went early this morning to the Val Verde County Courthouse to pay our property taxes. There was no line or anyone taking your temperature at the entrance like there was back in July when I was last there to buy my license plate tags. One less item crossed off my To-Do List.

The Courthouse is caddy-corner to HEB #1 better known as Little HEB. I was surprised that there weren't that many vehicles there but I do not currently need anything so headed off to the Post Office to pick up our mail.

No lines there either I suppose people will not be mailing their Christmas presents until December. Decided to head home but as I passed the car wash I pulled in to finish washing my car that I only got half washed after the incident with Paquito.

The rowdy/drunk neighbor left Friday morning I thought to go spend time with his family who lives out of town. Monday he came back with his wife and three kids. The dogs on this street like peace and quiet they started barking like crazy because his eldest kid was going up and down the street first in his bike then in his skates. Right now he has the music full blast in his truck as he bar-b-qs in his step-father's grill.  Oh, joy...this is going to be a long week!!!

We had a warm day as temperatures reached 87 degrees today. We expect cooler temperatures this weekend.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. I guess maybe people are getting smarter about being out in crowds so it made it a good day for you to get your errands done.

Feel for you with those nieghbors squirt them with the hose. LOL

    Love Betty White

    1. I certainly hope people are getting smarter about being out in crowds because our Covid numbers keep on going up and for a small town...that is scary!

I just can not understand how his mother and step-father put up with him. He is a 30 something-year-old man without a job surviving on side gigs. His grandmother is a very nice sweet lady and a friend of my mother's who told us his wife had left him because she was tired of his irresponsibility and drinking so I was shocked to see her back in Del Rio with him.

Luckily, either he is passed out at this hour or his mother made him turn off the music.

      I love Betty White too!

  2. Calling the PD for noise infractions will wear thin. He'll either smarten up or move away.
Seems like out restrictions have tightened up.
    Like your jokes.
Be Safe and Enjoy the warmth.

    It's about time.

    1. If we lived in the city it would be different but we live in the county and they do not start enforcing noise infractions during the week until after ten o'clock...that is if they enforce them at all.

Glad you enjoyed the jokes :)

  3. I am so glad you were able to get your business done without having to dodge idiots.
Having a clean car has to feel good. I know I need to wash my truck but have been putting it off.
I think you passed up your opportunity to get some brown sugar and Coke. Jajaja
It is so rude of your neighbors to let that overgrown brat disturb the whole neighborhood with his drunken antics. Is he an only child?
I think your jokes are hilarious. I am a big fan of Betty White and even have some d vds of her television shows from the fifties and sixties.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your mom and fur babies. I am still wishing I had a smoked turkey leg.
Stay safe and well my friend.

    1. The fewer people I run into the better. The ham is in the freezer next to the turkey until Easter or until my uncle can come to visit.

The rowdy neighbor is not an only child he has a younger adult sister they are from his mother's first marriage. His step-father has adult children from a prior marriage as well but the only one that has ever lived there and continues to do so is him.

Betty White is a national treasure, she is so funny and from my point of view an eternal teenager like Dick Clark when he was alive. She just does not age and does not even use a cane to get around.

Do you guys not have a local bar-b-q place? I briefly considered driving into town to purchase some for tomorrow but since it is located in the main drag and is across from big HEB I figured there would be a lot of out-of-towners stopping by for lunch and that was just too scary for me.

May you have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well.

  4. No bbq here. This is a very small town and most people here eat very bland food. They seldom use even black pepper or onions. I take my Tabasco if I go out to eat.
The exception is my friend Lilly. And today she brought me a dozen delicious tamales, plus two slices of pie. They are so flavorful and perfectly cooked. I like spicy things and I love Lilly's cooking. If I were younger, I would open a restaurant with her as chef. We have two Mexican restaurants here. One is horrible and the other is good but very expensive.
    Hope your day was excellent.

    1. Too bad you all do not have a bar-b-q place. I would be as big as a house if I allowed myself to eat there more frequently. Even Luther's is good here they have pulled pork sandwiches that are quite delicious.

I know what you mean about Tabasco I had to take some to Argentina since they do not have hot sauce there and my food has to be spicy or it tastes like nothing to me.

Lucky you...I was just thinking about tamales :-(
My best friend always makes some during Christmas and she makes sure to freeze some and share them with me when we meet up in Terlingua every year...except in this god awful 2020 when the event was canceled.

My day was not bad but it wasn't good either thanks to our worthless neighbor.

  5. My late husband in his former life played in a band in Austin (no, not rock and roll) and he played clubs, etc...and said Betty White was the raunchiest comedienne he had ever heard when she was on the lineup for the club. He loved her. Well, a drummer would. That was probably the late 50'- very early 60's. Maybe before she changed her name when she married Allen Ludden.

    1. I did not know that about Betty I too would have liked her more! While I knew she was married to Allen Ludden I do not think I ever saw her use her married name.

The first time I saw her was on the Mary Tyler Moore Show and of course when she hit it big on the Golden Girls.

    2. Not too many female comediennes at that time. I'll bet she had a hard row to hoe. She earned it! And lasted a long, long time. She's still alive at 98! Ha.

    3. As usual, there is always an Aunty Acid banner for this but I can't seem to be able to locate it. I think she looks great for her age and though I know I will never reach 98...if for some reason I would...I would like to be as lucid, witty, and vibrant as Betty.
