Finally quit procrastinating...

This morning the darn cats started running like wild horses on the roof but this time I was already awake so went out to feed them as I had a long list of errands to run that I have been putting off and I wanted to get an early start (well early for me anyway).

First stop was the post office where those darn house flippers refuse to give me a break...grrrrrrr!!! I have a separate bag that I keep in the trunk for my mail and when I opened it I realized I had forgotten that I had items I needed to take to the Recycling Center...so no time like the present to get rid of them.

The City of Del Rio Recycling Center is next to Highway 90 the main highway coming from San Antonio so I decided to go pay dad a visit since tomorrow it will be full when people honor their late loved ones for El Día de Los Muertos celebration.

There were some persons there mostly retired like me who decided to get a head start and beat the crowds. There were two funeral canopies set up so I suppose the burials would take place later in the day...I did not stay long.

HEB needed to be visited and what was my surprise but that it was full of people which is not customary for a Monday morning.  If that was not bad enough it was full of screaming tykes since they had the day off! I don't ever remember getting the day after Halloween off if it fell on a weekend 😡

Made a stop at Stripes to pick up some lunch plates and saw several Texas National Guardsmen doing the same...I could have sworn I read that they were being fed at Broke Mill RV Park...that or they are tired of their food.

Came home to eat and then headed to the laundromat which again for a Monday had way too many people and kids for my liking. Not a single person other than myself was wearing a face mask. This is the reason I had not wanted to come but that is what I get for procrastinating.

I went outside to sit in my car but it was hot. I figured since I was wearing two masks I would be safe but sat far away from people just to be on the safe side.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. I have somehow lost track and missed commenting on a couple of posts. All caught up now and glad you are getting a lot accomplished. Wish I could say the same.
Your laundry day sounds stressful, trying to dodge people who are too dumb to wear masks. I try to time my errands when I think there will be the least amount of people, but I am often wrong. I just do not understand why people won't protect themselves. I blame 42 for this ignorance.
Now I am wondering what you picked up at Stripes. I know you have mentioned their food choices before. Always enjoy hearing what others are eating. Especially Mexican Dishes. I am sure those Military feel the same and need that spicy and flavorful change in their diet.
Our weather has been nice here. Usually around 28* at night and around 50* during the day. I hope you get some cooler weather before long.
Stay safe and Happy Dio Dr Lis Muertos!

    1. I somehow got energy and finally had enough blogging material for a couple of posts but I doubt I will be able to keep it up.

HEB has the most compliance with mask-wearing but it could be higher if only people would try to protect themselves and those around them. You must mean you blame 45...not 42 right?

Stripes do have good food at affordable prices and it varies daily. I had hoped to pick up some Chiles Rellenos but the young cook said she had been busy and would not be able to make them until at least an hour. The price includes a main dish, two sides, and a flour tortilla for $5.29 plus tax.

I picked up a baked chicken plate with red rice and fideo and a carnitas bravas with two sides of red rice. We have five Stripes in town but only three of those sell food.

The Stripes by my house is the only truck stop in town and has a better selection since there is a constant flow of traffic with eighteen-wheelers coming and going to Mexico.

Your temperatures at night sound downright frigid! Though I would love to have 50 degrees during the daytime.

Hope you had a Happy Día de Los Muertos as well.

    1. I can not definitively state they were not in school due to Halloween...perhaps it was another reason...but if it was Halloween it would piss me off since we did not ever have that when I was in school.

I am glad I was able to get lot of things done but I will have to make a return trip to the laundromat though this time making sure the tykes are in school.

It's not that I do not like kids but I always get the unruly ones that run up and down pushing the laundry baskets and screaming while Mom and Dad are glued to their phones and do not discipline them.
