Finally...Rain!!!

On the news last night we were given a 20 percent chance of precipitation and for some reason, I actually believed them this time!

While the skies were a clear blue this morning I set out my primitive rain catchment system and glad I did as this afternoon dark clouds began to appear northeast of us.

I honestly do not recall the last time it rained.  I was on the front porch with Paquito and Nico watching it rain as was Mr. Joe's wife across the street from us.

Remembered that I had to empty my multiple containers into my 32-gallon trash can and set them out again to capture more liquid gold.  For those new to my blog...don't you laugh at my multi-colored buckets!

Even the cats were excited about the rain.  Momma Katie actually went from one container to the next taking sips from each like she was a wine taster...jajaja :D

Managed to get some of the other cats in the picture. There is one where I got them all but I can not find it at the moment.

You might have to click on the picture to enlarge it so you can see all five cats. From left to right Paquito (the white one), drinking from one container Momma Katie and her now grown kittens and way in the back is Nico looking from afar. Do not confuse the rock the color of the cats with one of them.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Aunty Acid Saying of The Day

  1. You aren't the only one that collects the rainwater or AC drippings. I did that at the Park rather then wasting fresh water. Only thing mine wasn't as colourful.
Be Safe and Enjoy your Gold.

    It's about time.

    1. I am glad that when you were living at your former park you were able to capture this precious liquid. I wish more people would do so.

  2. I don't remember what rain even looks or feels like! I loved Aunty Acid today!

    1. Neither did the cats, my neighbor, or I. It was nice to finally be on the receiving end of this vital liquid.

I had wondered about this and was glad to find an Aunty Acid that addressed this topic. I am one of those people who rarely carries cash on her and have not been to the bank since this pandemic arrived.

  3. I am pea green with envy you got some rain. I am happy for you and your sweet cats. Your system looks very efficient and cheerful.
No rain here and the heat is just awful. There are several big wildfires and the Bear Creek Fire near Lemhi Pass is still out of control. Red flag warnings everywhere.
Aunty Acid is spot on, as usual.
Some fool has opened a space downtown to sell tRump Crap. He is making money hand over fist. It just makes me ill to think his cult followers are in such numbers here. I just cannot wrap my brain around it.

    1. We lucked out and here in the county got a very mild shower this evening. I hear the city received a lot more rain but I am not complaining at least it is better than nothing.

Still no mention of the wildfires in our local news I certainly hope they get them all under control in your area as well as in other states.

Fox News and its lies have a lot to do with the increase of his cult members. I do not know if you are following the Democratic National Convention but I was heartened to see all the high profile Republicans that have come forward to endorse Joe Biden.

I loved the speech Michelle Obama gave yesterday. Jill Biden gave a good speech tonight looking forward to tomorrow's line-up which will include President Obama and Kamala Harris.

  4. Happy for you that you had rain and filled your buckets. All we get are high winds dark clouds and lightening which has caused more fires. Do you think you'll get more from the storm off the coast?

    1. Thank you JO, I was beside myself with joy at having received .50 of an inch of rain. This evening we got a mild shower which will help with all the dirt blowing around with our high winds.

Too bad it is too late for most of the trees. From looking at the pictures you would think it was fall instead of summer with all the leaves on the ground.

I don't think hurricane Genevieve will bring our area any precipitation but I could be wrong.

  5. So glad you had some rain. We had a bit as well...all the vegetation doesn't appear quite as droopy. Another month, and we will be having weather that seems more livable, or at least I hope so. Did you get your med test results? Or maybe you haven't gone to the PO.

    1. Like the weather guy at KSAT-12 in San Antonio said we lucked out for two days in a row and urged Del Rioan's to go buy a lotto ticket...jajajaja!

Yes, I agree in another month the weather will be more bearable.

I have not been to the post office so I do not know if my lab results have arrived yet. I figure if they were really bad I would have heard from his office by now.

Remember I said that I have been afraid of going to Walmart for fear of having a copy cat mentally deranged individual try to imitate what happened a year ago at the El Paso Walmart?

Well, it happened again at a Walmart in Weslaco, Texas two days ago. Thankfully law enforcement was able to take him out.

    2. Ah geez. I have nothing to say. No speeches. This is all wearing me out. Not yet though. I have the goal of seeing the full eclipse of the sun in 2024, which will be at it's darkest about 60 miles south of here, and moving southwest. It might come right over your house!!! I want to see/experience that. The weird lack of light and the drop in temperature. Of course, if I make it that long (I'll be 78), it will probably be cloudy. If it seems clear weather at your house, I may be headed your way. So forewarned is forearmed.

    3. No speeches required you were only trying to ease my nerves about going into Walmart. It is not like it was your fault that it happened again but at least there were no victims to lament this time around.

I was not even aware of a full eclipse of the sun in 2024 visible from this area. If I am still alive you are more than welcome to come to view it from our house.

  6. I meant no speeches about Walmart...and safety.
