Took some time away from my favorite cable news shows and cut down on my Internet use this weekend. I just wanted to take a break from the constant toxic news cycle that we can't altogether escape from during the week.
Friday I needed to run errands but I misplaced my car keys. I looked high and low for them, while I do have a spare I put it in a "safe place" and now I have no idea where that might be...I tell you I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body!
Spoke to a friend of mine for a little over three hours who coincidentally also misplaced her keys but at least they were not her car or house keys. This is when I realized that I need to fix one of the cars to use as a spare...but like everything else in my life, it will have to wait.
Saturday evening I was outside watering the trees when I saw my neighbors drive up and a few minutes later their rowdy drunk son drove up and he seemed to have a lot of stuff in the back of his truck...geeze, did he leave his wife again? I suppose that means loud music and firecrackers this coming Labor Day weekend.
I woke up at 5:00 a,m. this morning and since I could not go back to sleep decided to get up but not without first checking the weather on San Antonio's Channel 4. At 5:19 a.m. it was 86 degrees with a heat index of 92 degrees.
While it was dark I had the five cats circling me as they demanded to be fed but I made them earn their keep by protecting me from a possible lurking snake. I came in from outside at 7:08 a.m. without having to see a single neighbor.
Took a shower and got an early start to my day as I had a lot of errands to run that I was unable to get to on Friday. It has been a long time since I had to make three trips to town but I did today.
The only store I remembered to bring my phone inside was Dollar Tree. Needed some mushrooms and was hoping to find some Sara Lee wheat bread.
While I found the mushrooms the only bread on the shelves was some no-name brand ones.
I saw this juice (fake wine) that fellow blogger Rick and his wife Kathy enjoy and smiled when I thought of them.
It was another hot day. We had a high of 105 degrees.
With a heat index of 109 degrees.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
Aunty Acid Saying of the Day
Congratulations to MsB and Del Rio!!!!! You pulled together and accomplished your "goal". You hit 100°F or more every day in August. While I was typing the data into the spreadsheet, I added a column to convert to °C for your metric readers. I'm not sure if this will copy and paste correctly from the spreadsheet but I'll give it a try. I think blogspot eliminates some spaces so it might crunch together or separate in places but hopefully it will be good enough for you to read.

DeleteUnfortunately, neither I nor my fellow Del Rioan's can take credit for the triple-digit temperatures. Depending on how you feel about these high temps the only one that deserves credit or blame is Mother Nature.
I'm going to try again and see if this is easier to read since blogspot messes with the spacing:

Thank you from me, my European, and Latin American readers who use Celsius versus Fahrenheit.
DeleteWhen I read the words "my European and Latin American readers" that you wrote, it triggered the tagline/slogan/catchphrase used by Walter Winchell so I added “and all the ships at sea” to your sentence in my head:
DeleteYouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPCEYqwVJYY
It starts at around 0:27 on the timer.
I had never heard of Walter Winchell until today. From the video, he was a pioneer of sorts.
DeleteWhen you have a blog you have a daily, weekly, monthly stat report and for reasons unknown to me I have more readers from Europe, Ukraine, and Latin America than I do from the United States.
Nice that you were finally able to find your keys. We mounted a Key Hook Station on the wall both in the Trailer and the Apartment. Saves a lot of time searching as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Shout Out. Depending where you buy it you can save money. The best part is that it satisfies our taste for wine without the worry of a D.U.I..
Thanks DJ but that is definitely a record that we are glad not to break. It's hard to be motivated with temps that high.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
I have a mounted key hook station both at mom's house and in my Houston house. However, I never put my duplicates on it.
DeleteI am usually unloading the groceries and wiping them down before I bring them into the house as I am fighting to keep Paquito and Nico from running inside. I can not blame them they do not like the high temperatures either!
I set the keys down on top of the microwave as I ran after them and forgot about it.
I may have to try the fake wine at least once.
It is becoming more and more necessary every day to take a step back from the news. It is designed to make us all crazy and angry and worried. I don't know how we will all hold it together until the election.
ReplyDeleteI never misplace my keys. Everything else, but not my keys. Years ago I was always misplacing my keys until one day my son fell on a coffee cup and nearly bled to death. It was the ONE day I had put my keys in the proper place in my purse. After that, I trained myself to never put them in any other place. But I misplace plenty of other stuff. I keep an extra set of keys on a hook by a window I can open from the outside.
Sorry to hear your idiot neighbor's son is back.
Your heat just sounds terrible. We had a very cool day yesterday. It was a decent 78* high today.
It is great your cats protect you from snakes. I bet they also keep other creepy crawlies in check. Now if you could train them to attack Pollito...Jajaja
Stay safe my friend!
You had to go through a terrible experience to not have to ever lose your keys, glad your son was alright.
DeleteWhen I was in my 20's I came to know my Triple-A driver on a first name basis. He was a lovely Asian gentleman who had to come to my place of work to open my car door because I would always lock them inside my vehicle.
How I envy your nice temperatures :-(
If only I could train them I would have them attack more than just Pollito...but my cats only fight amongst themselves.
It was a real downer to see the rowdy drunk back at his parents' home. I should have said, "his wife threw him out again".
This man is 33 years old, does not work, and leeches off his parents. I suppose the better question is WHY they allow this type of behavior to continue.
So I guess you found your keys LOL Auntie Acid was right on with that one. I always put things in safe places, so safe I can't even find them. I have a clip on my keys and attach it right to my purse as soon as I finish usinging them.
ReplyDeleteAunty Acid hit the nail in the head. I am always losing a lot of things and this time it was the turn of the keys...I was so mad at myself!
DeleteI have a wrist bracelet where I carry them and a carabiner that I attach to my purse. The problem is that I was getting down their cat food, they smelled it and ran behind me as I was dragging the bags into the house.
I removed the keys from my wrist and set them down as I ran after them and forgot where I left them.
Ah. The old key problem. Glad you finally solved it. We have had a wonderful day here today, the day after your post, with temps only in the 70's and lots of rain. Some of it looked as if it could originate in your neck of the woods. But I suspect you haven't benefited yet. Still, the NWS forecast for 8-14 days out shows "cooler than below average". Hope some of it spills on down your way. So maybe a week from now...??? Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteI myself have really really slowed down on the news...no tv news at all. Skimming the internet.
I think I'm better for it.
Temperatures in the '70s and lots of rain sounds like you had a wonderful day!
DeleteThere is some rain in the forecast for tomorrow I just hope it comes to fruition.
I had to watch Rachel Maddow tonight and the leading story was the liar-in-chief telling his North Carolina supporters to go and vote TWICE...once by mail and once in person. Never mind it is illegal to do so and it is also ILLEGAL to encourage others to do so.
So much for my lower high blood pressure numbers...
