The fog lifted and the sun came out for a little while around noon. The neighbor in the back of mother's house on the north part of her property has a dog that had puppies a couple of weeks ago. There are three of them but today I only saw two in the backyard. Hopefully, someone adopted one!
When Romeo was grazing he left some horse fertilizer and for some reason, these puppies find it tasty and have been eating it. As you can see on the two above pictures Paquito is sunning himself on the fence and keeping an eye on the intruders.
Last night I was sleepy when I was writing my post and accidentally posted to the wrong blog. It was an update to Romeo and Juliet (the horses to the south of the property). I did not feel like deleting it and starting all over so I just left it on my other blog. I made my first blog Boo-boo of the year.
Here is the link if you care to read it or you can just click on my header picture and it will take you there. http://mylittlewalter.blogspot.com/
We had a low of 57 and a high of 73 degrees.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
Aunty Acid Saying of the Day
Ok MsB, since you asked, I’ll tell you the boring story of how and why we went to Terlingua and what we did but, you have to observe the important disclaimer of, “don’t try this at home”, or more appropriately, “don’t do it this way”. I’m the type that would put more time and effort into planning the trip than the time spent on the actual trip. I don’t have GPS, a cell phone, or a smartphone so I look at the entire route on Google Maps on a computer before I leave and make detailed notes of distances and anything unusual to look for along the way. “N” has a smartphone but she didn’t know how to use it. She experimented with it along the way but it crashed half-way into our trip so we then had no phone to make reservations. The one “for sure” thing that we had to plan around was being in Sedona (Arizona) for four nights since “N’s” sister was giving us her very nice timeshare condo for those four nights. The only other “for sure” thing was that we both had to be back by November 1 to attend different functions on November 2. “N” had some things to do before we could leave so we didn’t know exactly what day we would leave. I was working on a plumbing project (water leak) that took me about 20 days to find and then about 5 days to fix so I spent all of my time on plumbing before we left and exactly no time on planning the trip. We left Austin on October 14 and made it to Sedona on October 20. We drove to the Grand Canyon and back on one of the days while we were staying in Sedona. We left Sedona on October 24 so we now had 9 days to get home. This ends Part 1 of my Terlingua story. [I mean, why bore you in sentences when I can do it in paragraphs?]
ReplyDeleteFlyingdj - I thank you for taking the time to share with me and the other blog readers how you ended up in Terlingua for the 2019 Original Chili Cook-off.
DeleteIt is refreshing to read that you do not own a GPS, cellphone, or smartphone.
I like that you go into detail much like myself. I enjoyed reading Part I and look forward to Part II.
This is Part 2 of the Terlingua trip information that you requested. As a reminder, I was not able to do any planning for this trip so I relied on “N” to do 100% of the planning. She did not use a computer to plan this trip but instead used paper maps and a travel book provided by her sister. Leaving Sedona, we had 9 full days to make it back home. “N” decided that Big Bend National Park was too far out of the way so it was not in our plans since we wanted to see Arizona and New Mexico. We spent the first two nights after leaving Sedona in Arizona. We now had 7 days to make it home and we were still in Arizona. We spent the next night in New Mexico. We now had 6 days to get home and we were in New Mexico. “N” then decided if we only spend one night in New Mexico instead of two nights like she had planned, we should be able to sneak a quick unplanned trip to Big Bend National Park. This ends Part 2 of the Terlingua trip (and we are not even there yet).
DeleteI am enjoying your story telling can hardly wait for Part III.
DeleteThat is strange those dogs are eating horse poop. No doubt they have not been to a vet.
ReplyDeleteI worry your medication may be the wrong dose since you seem so sleepy all the time. I hope you will ask the pharmacist about this.
Your warm temperatures sound great. We are supposed to get down to 4* tonight. I feel like it has been the hardest winter since I have been here.
I seldom ever read about celebrity gossip, but started watching a youtube tarot reader, Tarot by Janine, and down the rabbit hole I went watching all her videos about Meghan and Harry and the royal. I found her insight just fascinating and her videos from several months ago to be on the money in accuracy. The more I watched, the more sense she made, but what a crazy story. It beats listening to the mainstream news about trump and politics, anyway. I can recommend her channel for what appears to be a real life novella.
I doubt these dogs or the dogs before them have ever been to a vet. I just hope she gets them adopted out soon.
DeletePenelope "sleepy" in my case is good...I have suffered from insomnia most of my adult life.
While I do not care for three digit temperatures I also do not like cold weather. I know you say your cabin is very warm but four degrees is downright FREEZING. I do not think I have ever experienced that low of a temperature in my life!
That YouTube tarot reader sounds interesting will have to check her out. I too have been following the Meghan/Harry saga. Like you mention beats the heck out of listening to mainstream media discuss the politics of the day. Though I did watch the debate last night followed by Stephen Colbert hilarious take on them. He had Presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg as a guest but I fell asleep during the commercials and missed his interview.
Hope your temperatures improve.
Dogs eat horse poop and the even eat their own nasty habit.
ReplyDeleteThough I have cared for stray dogs at one point having four adult strays and five puppies under my care I never saw them eating Walter's or their own feces.
DeleteIn the early days of John Wells blog "The Field Lab" he mentioned that his dog would eat coyote poop. It is a nasty habit and I can't imagine that it's good for them either.
I have only had one dog in my life and that was over twenty-five years ago...I am more of a cat kind of person.
